Decided to have lunch here as they advertised home cooked food. We didn't have long to wait after giving our order. The food was piping hot and tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful. Doing a special offer on one of their gin's which we tried.Good value for money. View all feedback.

My husband and I intended to have lunch there, but we were put off by the poor attitude of the staff and the smoke coming in from outside with the door left open. It made our dining experience uncomfortable, so we decided to leave after just having a drink. The new barmaid seemed hesitant to ask for assistance from her colleague, who was clearly not interested in helping her. It was disappointing and not a pleasant place to be in.
This was my first time visiting this restaurant and it was a pleasant surprise. They say never judge a book by its cover, and despite the lack of curb appeal, the inside of this pub more than makes up for it. We received a warm welcome from the manageress as soon as we walked in, and the service was outstanding. The food was simple but of great quality and value for money. I will definitely be returning next time I am in the area near the Abbey.
We had a very enjoyable meal at the restaurant. The service was quick and managed by Sally, who was very polite and helpful. My son and I are regulars at the Crown, but we decided to bring my wife/mum along for an evening meal and drinks.

The pub is a Mcmullens original with AK its greatest treasure, nectar of the gods, but to some the 'marmite ' of the beer world. Sallie and staff make you feel very welcome and the tapas/snacks are well worth trying as they are varied and very tasty. Bus stops and a train station are nearby so leave the car at home and enjoy the many charms of the Crown.
