Nestled in a charming locale, this pub stands out for its warm atmosphere and welcoming staff. Guests have praised the restaurant's home-cooked offerings and quick service, along with friendly interactions from the management. Its inviting decor and cozy vibes create the perfect setting for a casual meal or a friendly quiz night, with patrons noting the quality and value of the food. While some have encountered less-than-stellar service, the overall experience remains positive, marked by cleanliness and a sincere sense of community. For those seeking a genuine pub experience, this establishment undoubtedly delivers.
The arrogant and rude tall barmaid was not very welcoming or helpful to her new colleague when I visited the restaurant last week. My husband and I intended to have lunch there, but we were put off by the poor attitude of the staff and the smoke coming in from outside with the door left open. It made our dining experience uncomfortable, so we decided to leave after just having a drink. The new barmaid seemed hesitant to ask for assistance from her colleague, who was clearly not interested in helping her. It was disappointing and not a pleasant place to be in.
Decided to have lunch here as they advertised home cooked food. We didn't have long to wait after giving our order. The food was piping hot and tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful. Doing a special offer on one of their gin's which we tried.Good value for money.
The pub is a Mcmullens original with AK its greatest treasure, nectar of the gods, but to some the 'marmite ' of the beer world. Sallie and staff make you feel very welcome and the tapas/snacks are well worth trying as they are varied and very tasty. Bus stops and a train station are nearby so leave the car at home and enjoy the many charms of the Crown.
Four of us tried this pub for lunch and to be honest I really did not know what to expect. We walked in to a lovely cosy atmosphere and was greeted warmly by the landlady. This is a pub from the past where you went with friends for a drink and a chat and maybe a bite , its not trendy or has sales staff trying to push you to order food and drink then want to give you the bill, Its relaxing, its very clean, you could say old fashioned in a nice way ok the menu sticks to what it is ,pub classics eg: Scampi and chips in a basket great. The next visit we make to the Abbey we will drop in again to this cosy little pub. Thank you girls we loved it
I love this pub and although I don't live near enough for it to be my local, I make an effort to visit from time to time. It's old and cosy. The landlady goes out of her way to make strangers welcome. Locals are always friendly. Toilets are spotless. It's one of the few places you can go to, have a nice drink, a good chat and truly relax. It's a proper pub.
