Given Thanksgiving, there was a Thanksgiving inspired menu of roasted chicken and mashed potatoes, lime and mussel soup, a squash flatbread, and other fall dishes. Aside from the quality and flavor of the food, I was a bit unimpressed. The service had minimal interaction and seemed very stressed, toughening the experience. Even while delicious, the food was not necessarily pushing boundaries very far especially as an American who's seen seemingly every iteration of Thanksgiving made upscale. The environment felt a bit sterile and not particularly intimate. I think given the reputation and the price of Laja, it fell flat. There are other high dining experiences that offer more. I'd be willing to try them again at a different time with a different menu and perhaps a different atmosphere, but in its current state, I'd opt for others.

We always... read more This was our 5th time dining at La Laja. The first time with the new chef. The food was wonderful and the service and ambiance outstanding, as always. We always get the chef's menu, paired with wine. The only thing we didn't like was the beer with one course, and a strange cocktail with another course. Please just stick to wine.
