I am going to give them 4 stars just on the food. For years, we have been coming here and enjoying the lobster! It is absolutley delicious! It has been getting more run down over the years, but you still cannot beat the view. You can sit out on the patio and watch the amazing sunsets, or sit inside and have them make you a fire and enjoy the warmth. Normally you can find the rooster and cats wandering around for a gr... What Al A doesn't like about La Fonda Restaurant, Bar, And:
Great patio deck view. Not a place for vegetarians. Popular for fish, lobster, and mediocre steak. First drinks are strong. Following drinks have virtually no alcohol. Intentionally done. Call them out for your full-strength replacement. View all feedback.
Cool spot. . . I think we all overhype it though. If you surf and it's winter time, one thing for sure is that their fireplace inside the restaurant will warm you to the core! I have never felt or seen a fireplace like it! They have an amazing filet mignon wrapped in bacon with all fresh vegetables and soup salads etc ., That is definitely a High Point! Watch the waiters though,.. they will always try to overcharge you. Well most of the time. Their buffet on Sundays can be really good.. And then sometimes it can just be average. Live music there sometimes.. And a great ocean view.
The all you can eat Sunday buffet is the best!! Food is delicious, large variety of breakfast/brunch Mexican food, including homemade flour tortillas, pancakes, all you can drink strong margaritas among other drinks. Views are amazing, and music is very entertaining. Every time I go, I end up dancing and making a fool out of my self in the best way!!
This was a few years back but it's like a travel nightmare. They only had one room available when we booked. I believe they only have 4 rooms. When we turned on the lights there was a scorpion I had to kill. We found out it was a piece of dmitris la Fonda. In the morning we were locked in because to access our room you had to go through the bar. Which was locked with chains. Our room turned out to be propped from the bottom by some 2x4s. Luckily we met dmitri and stayed there. This place blows.
The view was great, but there was a huge markup for paying in US Dollars vs pesos we paid $13 more for a mediocre dish with tiny lobsters! The staff claimed that the exchange rate we showed them on google was incorrect. Avoid this ripoff of a place at all costs!!
The view was pretty, but the food is overpriced and our server was rude and never checked on us.
