Die Portion war sehr gut bemessen, und auch das Apfelm... read more Noch nie in meinem Leben habe ich so herrliche Aelplermakronen (Aelplermaggronen, Makaronen :)) gegessen. Die Portion war sehr gut bemessen, und auch das Apfelmus welches dazugehört, schmeckte außerordentlich fein. Der weisse Wein, (Johannisberg) dazu war ausgezeichnet, man kann aber auch roten Wein dazu trinken. Alle aus der Gruppe, die diese Speise gewählt hatten, schlllllemmten und konnten nicht aufhören zu rühmen, die Servirmethode im Holzgeschirr - leider weiss ich nicht wie man diese "Schüssel" nennt) sah sehr originell aus und sogar die Zwiebelschweize roch verlockend, auch wenn Zwiebeln nicht so ganz mein Ding sind.

That means it doesn 't get crow... read more If you look up from Engelberg town then one of the traditional wooden buildings that you see will be this restaurant high above. That means it doesn 't get crowded with tourists, but for those who know and take the trouble to get there is is...well worth it. You can get there by walking either down from Ristis or up from the town, or it is possible to drive there by car in the summer (follow the signs up the steep hill past the Waldegg hotel). Traditional local food, including one of the two best Älpler Magronen to be found in Engelberg (the other is at the Ende der Welt). That is a traditional Alpine dish with pasta, potatoes, cream and cheese, served with apple sauce and onions generous portions, very filling and a family favourite. Served in a big wooden bowl for you to help yourself at your table, and well worth trying. They have all of the other traditional Swiss dishes as well. Good range of beers and drinks, including excellent Apfelwein in standard and alcohol free versions and chilled to perfection. In summer the best place to eat is the sunny outside terrace, with a wonderful view over the valley and across to the Titlis opposite.

(20min drive from the valley). it is located on a rather romantic location, along some building houses. with views of mt titlis and the valley. we were the only ones at 18:30 clock, quite quiet for a Friday night. we ordered älpermagronen for 4 people in advance together with our reservation. Therefore, eating was served very quickly. the elliptical magrons were so delicious and could even be the best I have eaten so far. if you want to enjoy the Swiss cuisine, come to this place! service is very friendly.
