Not sure what is going on or why the reviews are so low, but every time I have ordered Jerry's, I have been satisfied. My go to: Matzo ball soup! It's chicken soup (noodles and all) with a huge matzo ball in it. It is really good. Honestly, I crave this anytime I have a cold or am feeling run down. My husband also gets the cobb salad and likes it. We also have had their breakfast catered at work, eggs bacon, toast, p... View all feedback.
What James S doesn't like about Jerry's Famous Deli:
Why Jerry's famous deli will charge so much on delivery, taking advantages of their customers??? This is outraged delivery and service charge? The food is good, I can't say anything bad about it, I do like it. Got sick needed some good homemade feel like soup. Ending up paying almost $40 for 2 bowl of soup it's a shame. Please change your delvivert rates and policy and you will geek an update stead positive review. F... View all feedback.
Thank you for being a staple in the neighborhood for many years. It's unfortunate to see the impact of Covid on your business. We always knew we could rely on your consistent quality and generous portions, no matter what we ordered from your extensive menu. Your quick delivery service was our preferred choice for in-home comfort food. Goodbye, old friend.
I haven't been to Jerry's in a long time, so I was very excited for a delicious delicatessen experience. We went between lunch and dinner, so the parking in the back of the building was convenient. The restaurant was not very busy, which was unusual for a deli. The waiter promptly took our drink orders for iced tea, which was well-brewed and not bitter. We were served delicious pickles and bagel chips while we waited. The pickles were perfect - crispy and not too salty. I am quite picky about my pickles! The waiter took our orders and our food arrived quickly. I ordered the pastrami sandwich with coleslaw. The bread was dry and disappointing, lacking the crisp crust and soft center I expected. The coleslaw was good - sweet and juicy, which I enjoyed. The pastrami was good, but for the price of $19+, I was hoping for something more exciting and generous. My husband ordered a whole brisket sandwich with applesauce, but was initially only served half a sandwich with coleslaw and potato salad. After we pointed out the mistake, they brought the other half of the sandwich and the applesauce. He said the sandwich was okay. Our friends had the half pastrami sandwich and sweet and sour soup, which they loved. The cup of soup was quite large, more like a bowl. I wish I had ordered the matzo ball soup. Overall, it was an okay experience - not bad, but nothing special.
The food at this restaurant is consistently delicious, but the service definitely needs improvement in several areas. They always appear to be understaffed, and it took me 15 minutes just to purchase some cookies from the deli counter. The employees seemed to lack a sense of urgency in completing tasks. Having worked at a Jewish deli for a few years, I know that even during slow times, there is always work to be done. Despite the service issues, the matzo ball soup was absolutely divine.
I ordered through doordash. One of the best sammiches I've had in a long time. Very simple but perfectly cooked and sliced. I requested pickles on the side and they hooked it up. I definitely need to order from here again next time in town. I ordered on a French roll because I figured it wouldn't get soggy from moisture on the doordash ride. I definitely want to try the rye bread next time. See pix
I was en route to a friends fathers funeral services at the Westlake Village Yacht Club and decided to grub first. You never know how it 's going to be and food sometimes doesn 't play into it. So picked this spot Jerry 's Famous Deli, in Encino. This has always been a safety net because it 's safe . You come here and you know exactly what you are for...Deli food heavily leaning on the Jewish aspect. I think Jerry 's and I auto lock on LOX!! And I again ran to what I 'm used to and appreciative of. My friend and I decided to share the Lox Platter! I would recommend RED ONIONS because the white onions really don 't add much to the dish and the sharpness of the red onions works pErfectly. This platter wAs more than enough for two people. We simply added a second bagel and that was it. FOLLOW me on Yelp, Instagram and Twitter!
