Da Santi - EMPOLI

Do not miss this amazing place as and when you visit the less famous (and less expensive) side of Tuscany. This restaurant is really a trattoria in other words a simple eating house with no frills, just food and drink. Recently I was visiting San Miniato which is truly stunning, but all of the car parks were full so I drive a few kilometres back towards the motorway because I had spotted this place as a possible lunch stop. I parked nearby and arrived JUST in time to grab the last table, it was 1pm on a Sunday and a queue of locals quickly formed outside! I saw that they serve food to eat in, and also food to take away and their business was VERY brisk indeed. The two guys next to me ordered lasagne and so I added my order to theirs and the food arrived fairly quickly, considering the chaos!. Wow was it good food, for me it was simply wonderful fresh food. I licked the plate clean (almost) and lasagne, beer and coffee was a princely 11 Euro!!!!! Well it was so good that I returned for dinner with a friend and we had a simply wonderful dinner too!!!! Lovely place, people, food and service and value!!!!

I've known him since I was a child and quality has not changed, there is a small organization that is missing for takeaway.
