By luck we ended up in Glottertal and found this hotel.Nice rooms, nothing to fancy but nothing wrong either. The hotel also has a roof terrace with sun beds and a beautiful view. Hosts are very nice and service is perfect.Food is excellent for what you want to expect from a hotel like this.
We took some American friends here for an evening meal, having been there before 8 years ago. Rain was threatening so we were seated indoors. The restaurant is lovely - airy, with lots of pale pine ... and then that view. The food - fairly typical for Glottertal, so schnitzel, wurstsalat, spätzle etc. Huge portions at similar prices to other simple places in the village. The service was also good - spirited and efficient. Some English spoken. If you're looking for a simple German meal in Glottertal, this is as good as you will get, though nb closed Thursdays. Watch the steep slope up from the car park - even the fittest will arrive breathless!
If you enjoy a wonderful view of serene mountain and valley below, this is the place. It is extremely peaceful. We sat on the outside terrace and had beer and local meat dish with the best french fries. It was close to two hours we just sat there and drank in the scenery. If you are near Freiburg, the southern part of Black Forest, it is worth the drive to go to Glottertal and enjoy the nature for hours. Make reservation to make sure you can seat on the terrace. Food is great and prices are very reasonable and the service is good. Only down side is that it is not easy to find (off of the main street) on a steep hill and you have to drive carefully and then climb few steps on foot after parking. A must in South Black Forest.
