We had a party of 8, and while they wouldn 't take a reservation,we had no problem getting seated. We waited a short time while a couple finished and they moved two tables together. I had shrimp and grits and it was unique with an egg and lots of sauce. Everyone else liked their dishes and the service was prompt and friendly. The bill came to about $40 per person including apps, drinks, meal and tip. They have enough... View all feedback.
What Kelly McNutt doesn't like about The Trading Post; Southern Food Spirits:
Clean, gender neutral restrooms. Service was ok. Food is so-so, but they seem to be busy. We were looking for a tasty but not fried meal. Macaroni and cheese too salty, couldn 't eat it. Fries, ugh, the kind that are coated with a light breading. Not my favorite. Didn 't eat those either. Type you get at Burger King. Clam chowder actually a seafood bisque with corn, beans, etc. Sisters said was yummy. Fried green tom... View all feedback.

The trading post reminds me of a boutique deli downtown new york city loved it The bacon, egg and cheese is a must on a sesame seed bagel.
We had an amazing dinner of shrimp and grits. The chef puts a delicious layering of wonderful flavors. The grits are old fashioned creamy grits, topped with fresh perfectly cooked shrimp , mushrooms, tomatoes , tender greens, and more , all with a perfectly seasoned sauce. The portion was generously large and large enough to share.
This was a trip to the beach that in it in great food! This was our first time trying this restaurant and we were pleasantly pleased! The food was good overall, but the one thing that they claim to have received multiple awards for did not live up to its name! That was the shrimp and grits, which is one of my favorite dishes! There was a lot going on with that dish! They had some of everything in it and I feel like it took away from the actual flavors that you could have gotten! Personally, I feel like the Grits alone should have their own flavor! Good shrimp and grits great flavors and folds them together! That's not what I got from this dish! Overall, it was okay! Let's just say, I'm good with ordering it the one time and next time I will definitely try something different! Everybody else around my table seem to have enjoyed their meal immensely! All of the appetizers that we tried were spot on they taste amazing! So if you have not visited the Trading Post, make sure you do the next time you go to Emerald Isles! Kid-friendliness: They have a very robust kids menu and they don't discriminate for age, so if you don't eat a lot or you want small portions, you can actually order off of this kid's menu!
