Reviews summary
Nestled in a vibrant setting, this affordable pub strikes a balance between charm and value, offering an impressive selection of vegan options alongside classic pub fare. Guests praise the friendly and attentive staff, although service can lag during busy weekends. While the food quality varies—some dishes delightfully surprising, like the soy burger and meat-free tikka masala—others fall short in preparation. The atmosphere is inviting, with appealing decor and engaging music. Ideal for families and sports fans alike, the establishment also accommodates dietary restrictions well, ensuring a pleasant experience for all patrons in search of quality dining at a reasonable price.
Was Anonym at Hereward Ely a mag?
My friend ordered the four-times soy burger with Violife cheese slices, and I had the meat-free tikka masala. Both dishes were absolutely delightful! I had to check three times to make sure mine was vegan because it tasted and looked so similar to chicken—it was both a blessing and a curse. The staff was friendly, and the service was quick. There was a good selection of vegan options available, and it was great to se... View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about Hereward Ely:
This affordable and cheerful chain pub offers an impressive variety of vegan options. The staff were wonderful. While the food we tried was decent, it wasn't the highest quality. However, considering the low prices, it was fair value for the money. View all feedback.

This pub has gone seriously downhill from having decent food to having atrocious food, coupled with atrocious service and very rude, complacent, lacklustre, staff. The chef is the most lazy and terrible cook I have come across. I waited an hour for a fry up when I asked how long it would be after I had finished my pint, they said it shouldn 't be too long.We 've had to have an electrician out as the chef tripped out the electricity , so your egg was only half cooked!! In addition to this, my glass was disgustingly dirty. The whole place is a mess and needs sorting out from the top down. My suggestion would be the head office start again.
Came in for a quick drink as we were early for Sunday lunch booked somewhere else. There are so many options for places to sit and watch football and the staff were accommodating when we wanted to watch a different game and apologised that they couldn't also change the sound. Lots of tables and not crowded. We actually ended up going back for another drink and I decided to go for apple crumble and custard as a dessert. It came quickly, was reasonably priced, and nice and hot.
Firstly, i only gave it a one star because it wouldn’t let me do no stars. Manager clearly needs customer service training and potentially anger management. Sunday morning, empty pub, me and my dad paid for pool and the manager came over and said this is for over 18s only, my dad said oh ok well i have already paid for it so just give my money back. The manager got very excited and shouted calm down sir, there is no need to get all aggressive about it. The only raised voice was his, we think he may have had a difficult evening the night before as his reaction was extreme and unnecessary. If you’re after a family friendly pub this is not the place. Do not visit.

Hereward Ely offers a pleasant pub experience. The spicy chicken burger was delicious, and the drinks were well-crafted, even if the staff on duty were unfamiliar with a Bloody Mary (though they gamely made one! . Prices were reasonable, making it good value for money. The only drawback was the excessively loud music, which unfortunately made conversation across the table quite challenging. Despite this, Hereward Ely is still worth a visit for its tasty food and drinks. This is a fantastic pub that may seem geared towards sports enthusiasts, but on days without major games (which is most of the year), it becomes an excellent family-friendly dining spot. They offer a great selection of classic pub dishes, all well-prepared. For added convenience, you can also place your order through an app if you prefer a contactless experience.
At the first visit and on Saturday evening the atmosphere went brilliant. music and dance with the best cocktails. I can't wait to return.
A nice restaurant pub, think it could do with more staff on at weekends as was very busy and had to weigh quite a while to get served. Our meal was a fearly good deal but not much on the plate for the price and some of our food was undercooked and some bits were missing according the menu. The pudding was good value for money and was of a large portion. All in all think it could do better but will try and visit it again on our next visit
We had a great family breakfast while we cricket observed! good value and we had 3 different sizes! pity over the sticky, unwashed floor.
Great value food, and very attentive to those with intolerances and allergies. Provided me with all information I needed and after ordering something which was marked as may contain allergen they made sure I was aware of that fact.
