I stopped in for a great cup of coffee after leaving the Boundary Waters. I like good, black coffee. Northern Grounds did not disappoint on the coffee side. The service was below average, though. 3 employees continued their personal conversation while Istood at the register with my wallet in hand less than 5 feet from them. They ignored me until they were done with theirmeaningless conversation, then they provided indifferent service. If the service matched the product, this place would be 5star.
Coffee was decent but the chicken wild rice soup was a 1 out of 10. Broth based soup that basically tasted like water with under cooked carrots, weird square chicken pieces and wild rice! Without a ton of salt it was inedible!! And at $7 for a smallish bowlit was easily the worst deal in town!
Hadn't tried this coffee shop yet, that's why we came here. Inside was very nice and ordered few lattes. Employees weren't the friendliest and our lattes. Not good. Couldn't taste any coffee and my vanilla latte wasn't mixed well. Tasted milk one sip, then coffee and then a gulp of syrup. We won't be back. Prefer log cabin coffee. Our drinks always taste great and staff alwaysfriendly.
I didn't expect this type of place in Ely, but I'm really happy to have stumbled upon it. Such a large inviting space with a lot of coffee options, pastries, sandwiches, and soup specials. The staff was super friendly and helpful as well. Seems to be a barat night with tons of wine and beer on tap as well. A great place to hangout and relax.
This was the worst breakfast restaurant I've ever been to. We were looking for non-meat options, and when we asked at the counter, they told us they had nothing available. However, when I pointed out the bagel with cream cheese on the menu, the staff confirmed they had that. When we finally received the bagel, it was ice cold and as hard as a rock. I absolutely do not recommend this place to anyone! It's the absolute worst!
