The food is top-notch! Their reuben on rye impressed the deli-snob out of me. The breakfast burrito will leave you stunned at having eaten the whole thing because you just couldn't quit it. Probably my all-time favorite. Also, they're really nice and let me get coffee to go sometimes. Thank you, Stray Hen!! View all feedback.
What Mansi Parikh doesn't like about Stray Hen Cafe Elmhurst, Illinois:
Great food but terrible service! We were approached approximately 5 times in brunch in attempt to clear our tables as we were eating less than an hour in). We got the bill as soon as the food was delivered to the table. There’s a better way to handle Sunday rush but this wasn’t it. The manager came over and was also pretty unhelpful in trying to make us feel as if we weren’t overstaying our welcome. Do better ? View all feedback.
Very nice restaurant! Service was wonderful..Food was delicious! My boyfriend had the French toast and I had pancakes. Will most definitely will come back
They have a great menu. We tried the O'Brian and Papi Chulo skillets. He had the cinnamon roll pancakes, and I had the apple churro French toast. We will definitely be back.
I had a huge bagle with cream cheese, Avacado, and a huge pile of very tasty locks with a side of fresh fruits. The waitress was friendly, and the service was fast. The next time I'm in the area, you can bet I'll be there.
My family and I entered our name online and waited for about 20 minutes, which wasn’t an issue. While waiting, I grabbed a coffee from a local shop. When our table was ready, I still had my fresh cup of coffee. However, upon being seated, I was informed I couldn’t have it. Although I noticed the sign about no outside food or drink, I didn’t think it would apply to a small cup of coffee. Yet, it did. When I inquired about the policy, I was told it was a health code violation, which I knew wasn’t true. I mentioned this to the host, but they insisted it was the manager’s decision and pointed to the signs. It’s understandable if I had brought in food from elsewhere and occupied a table, but this was just a cup of coffee. It would have been more honest to admit the policy was to encourage purchasing drinks from them. They lost my future business over one cup of coffee. A questionable decision indeed.
Was recommended Stray Hen Cafe from a receptionist in the area and she wasn’t wrong! Food was amazing. We were greeted and sat right away. Jennifer is a great server with a great personality. Will be returning again, it’s a must.
