Description

Nestled within the Brooklands Museum, the Sunbeam Café offers a mixed dining experience for visitors. While the café's atmosphere is charming and family-friendly, complete with historical memorabilia, food quality can be inconsistent. Sandwiches often disappoint, and hot meals, served only during specific hours, may arrive cold due to lengthy wait times. However, patrons appreciate the friendly service, variety of choices, and adherence to safety protocols. With a selection of snacks, cakes, and drinks, the café serves as a convenient stop for light refreshments, making it suitable for a quick break amidst a day of exploration.

There was a queue to be served and some of the food our party would have chosen had run out. But given we were hungry the solid servings were probably what we needed

I had pasty and chips and you get the feeling it was cooked especially for you and not just reheated.

The chicken curry was bland and too liquidy. To make matters worse, there was a 10-minute wait before anyone took our order at the register, causing the food to be cold when we finally got to eat it. If you visit this café, I suggest sticking with the sandwiches.

The staff at this restaurant are friendly, and the presentation of the food is fresh and appealing. We ordered the chilli and rice, but we found that the dish was lukewarm and lacked flavor. Despite this, we enjoyed a cup of tea and shared a scone with jam and cream later in the afternoon, which we found to be much more satisfying.

The Sunbeam Cafe, situated in the charming Brooklands Clubhouse, offers a delightful spot for lunch or breakfast. With both indoor and outdoor seating options available, there is plenty of space to dine. The menu offers a good selection of dishes to choose from. I opted for a hot snack and thoroughly enjoyed the Cornish pasty. The cafe strictly adheres to Covid-19 regulations, with tables properly spaced out and contactless card payments only. The staff are friendly and provide excellent service. Overall, a highly recommended dining experience.
