Morton's Moo - Ellsworth
Morton's Moo
Description
During a recent road trip, Morton's Moo emerged as a delightful surprise for those seeking vegan treats. Offering a tempting array of dairy-free options, the standout was the rich vanilla bean ice cream, complemented by a creamy coconut base reminiscent of gelato. The chocolate almond chip was equally indulgent, packed with chocolate chips. While portions are generous—requiring a medium size to sample two flavors—patience is rewarded amid friendly, helpful staff and easy parking. The menu also features refreshing sorbets and oat milk-based shakes, making this spot a perfect pitstop for vegans and non-vegans alike.

On the day we went to Morton's Moo, they had three vegan flavors available. I tried the pomegranate blueberry, which was really delicious. The restaurant has ample outdoor seating and parking directly across the street. All dairy-free options were clearly marked.
Great vegan options... Call ahead... We had Oreo (Oatmilk-based), and 3 Sorbets... lemons, blueberry and blood orange. Easy parking on the street. The staff was super helpful and friendly.
I was on a road trip with some non-veg friends who wanted to stop on ice; I drove so I decided to leave them and wait on the parking lot on the street. If I let them out, I made jokes when they got something vegan, bring me back a cup! Boy I was surprised when they brought me back a tower of delicious creamy vegan quality! They had two different flavors (TWO!! Vanilla beans and chocolate almond chip! My friends have me both. The vanilla bean was by far my favorite. I think it has to be made with coconut cream/milk because there was a slight undertone there, the vanilla flavor just hit it out of the park. The consistency was definitely gelato like, very soft and creamy (almost silky). The chocolate almond chip was also good, tons of chips and so chocolatey (I tend to prefer nothing hard in my ice/gelato, but the flavors only worked so well together. I introduced everything very quickly. Only smaller handle is that if you are interested in two flavors, you must apparently get a medium size (the really great desire I would have done half a pot of any taste for a smaller, more manageable portion size. Note: Friends reported that the service was extremely slow due to the pandemic precautions (which we fully understand and appreciate! so easy to prepare for a moment. It's worth it!
