At the beginning of the 2000s, this beer garden was one of the best beer gardens in Bavaria. However, I only know this from stories from people who experienced these times themselves on site. Having heard so many stories about it, I just had to go and see for myself. The summer cellar finally closed its doors in 2017. As a fan of lost places, I was here at just the right time. The area is relatively large. According to Wikipedia, Sommerkeller is a district of Ellingen. This is about 1500 meters north of Ellingen along the B2 federal road. Following the road to the Sommerkeller you pass some flags with advertisements for an opening ceremony from 2017. The main building, which is a listed building, is a two-winged building from the 18th century. It seems a bit gloomy and scary here, especially in the autumn light, because you now feel like the last person on earth on the wasteland, which was frequented by numerous guests every day until a few years ago. If you look through the window into the interior, you can still see many gastronomic utensils. Posters refer to events that took place here a few years ago. As if time just stood still in this place five years ago. You can move freely on the premises. There are no barriers. You should still be careful where you step. A very interesting place.
