This is my favorite hibachi Chinese Japanese food restaurant in all of Elizabethtown it doesn't have a buffet another one near Walmart does but I can 100% recommend this place and say it is extremely delicious. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Tokyo Bistro:
Came here for a bite to eat as my partner and I were starving after a long drive. The sushi rice was mushy, barely any filling in the spicy crab roll. We both ordered hibachi plates. The whole dish was overly salty rice was undercooked. Steak tasted like adobo…even though it’s “Japanese” cuisine. Perhaps hiring an actual Japanese chef would help this place out because it was honestly one of the worst meals I’ve ever... View all feedback.
I ordered the Hibachi combo steak and scallops, but everything was served cold, including the rice and soup. I requested the steak to be cooked medium, but it came out well done, flavorless, and cold. This was the worst Hibachi experience I have ever had. Additionally, the shrimp bowl was also served cold.
My husband and I were in Elizabethtown recently, and he needed to take care of something that did not interest me. I decided to run into Tokyo Bistro for a quick snack. There were two employees behind the counter. Neither greeted me or even offered a menu. I finally asked for one. Before I could order anything, my husband came in and said he was through with his errand. I nodded at the men, figuring at least one would ask me to come back again. Didn 't happen.... A few weeks later, we decided to call ahead and order takeout. The employee who answered seemed bothered that she had to answer the phone. There was nothing friendly, or even cordial, about her voice. She seemed even more put out that I had an order. When I arrived at the specified time, again there was no welcome. I gave my name and was told it 'd be a few more minutes. Some establishments ask of you want to order a drink while you wait. Not this time at this place, and I doubt it will be suggested in the future at this rate. I don 't expect red carpets and salutes when I go into a small restaurant, but a simple welcome is appreciated. When I have to wait, I appreciate an occasional update: Your order is next. We 're doing the so-and-so now, so it will be fresh... When we got home, it was a pleasure to find the order was accurate. Even with a few minutes of travel time, the food was good. There are limited choices for takeout of any kind around here, so quality and flavor are important. (Thus, the three stars. Maybe since there isn 't a lot of competition, this place doesn 't think it has to be courteous. Maybe not, but they 'd get more of my business instead of me driving farther to Lumberton, Wilmington, etc....
Worst Hibachi we've ever had! Also overcharged us! We won't ever eat here again! DON'T EAT HERE!
Best Sushi Ever! Definitely recommend this place hands down!
I can honestly say this was the absolute worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. It was so bad I left laughing in my car. There was nothing else to do but laugh. Why get angry when every single thing went wrong? I was traveling hours and usually stop to use the restroom somewhere in Whiteville and used yelp to find a restaurant. I saw this on here and being that I am a sushi fanatic and find hidden gems in places like this I thought this would be great. Wow. Oh wow was I wrong. I entered the restaurant and it wasn 't fancy but I felt right at home in traveling clothes and took a seat. The waitress came over and immediately I noticed the menu was in Bad condition and that the sushi was expensive for where I was. Like Atlanta prices! Anyways, they did not have any sushi lunch specials so I thought I would switch it up. I ordered a Kani salad. My usual go to app. I am not kidding when I tell you it was literally fake crab cut up and on lettuce?? Kani salad is completely different than that. It was fine and I just ate it. Then I noticed that sashimi was spelled sashime on the menu and I should have known right there that it was a bad choice. I ordered the sashimi appetizer. When it arrived I wanted to vomit. I had to ask what the fish was and I can name every fish blindfolded usually. The salmon looked like raw chicken and I am assuming the mackerel was the one that looked like old bacon. I had to send it back so I did not take the risk of putting anything of harm In my body. So, o ordered a broccoli/rice bowl. Simple right?? Nope. Out comes a zucchini/rice bowl. I just stared at it. I told the server that I ordered broccoli and she didn 't even care. I then noticed that a man was dozing a hole on the wall like 10 feet away from me. What in the world? I just asked for the check and said I would take the bowl to go. I had to ask for a bag and they still charged me for the half eaten salad and zucchini bowl. Please. Drive 45 minutes up the road and go to several decent sushi restaurants in Wilmington. I am in awe of this.
