Nestled within a hotel, this restaurant offers a mix of experiences ranging from friendly service to mixed food quality. Diners express disappointment over overpriced dishes, particularly a buffet that lacks flavorful options. While some items, like honey sriracha wings and Angus burgers, stand out, others fall flat—such as dry chicken salads and below-par pretzel sticks. Portion sizes often provide value, yet diners seek higher standards in ingredient quality and preparation. Overall, while the atmosphere is typical of a hotel establishment, guests hope for improvements to elevate their dining experience beyond the average fare often found on hotel menus.
Will not answer call for room service--goes to voicemail Front desk would not go around the corner (15 feet) and get a restaurant worker's attention--instead they forwarded me to the restaurant and I again got voicemail
Food is mediocre. Buffalo wings were decent. Pretzel sticks with beer cheese- cheese was likely cheez wiz and not very good. Ordered apple tartlet to go- average. Service was very good.
Business traveler stuck on thanksgiving on the road. The renaissance hotel kitchen made a good meal to take the edge off being away from home. See picture. Pictures worth a thousand words. It was as good as or better a thanksgiving meal than you'd get at a friends. Thanks renaissance
I've visited this restaurant several times while passing through the Newark airport area. The service is always friendly and prompt. However, I've noticed that the menu changes frequently, and unfortunately, the quality of the food has been declining. The minestrone now tastes like canned soup, the potstickers seem to be frozen, and the wings are quite disappointing. Additionally, the basmati rice bowl is overloaded with salt. They used to offer a fantastic chimichurri steak, but that disappeared along with much of the food quality. While the service remains excellent and welcoming, it's a shame that the kitchen has become such a letdown.
I understand that there are challenges with supply chains, staffing shortages, and inflation, but there’s really no excuse for serving such poor-quality food and then expecting customers to pay for it. After a restful night in a cozy bed and a refreshing morning shower with great water pressure, I was very disappointed to end up in what I can only describe as "breakfast hell." Perhaps I should have taken the hint when I walked into the restaurant and the host mentioned it was buffet only, with no a la carte options. He quietly added, “You can take a look at the buffet first before you decide,” which, in retrospect, should have raised a red flag. I know hotel food can be overpriced for various reasons, and that doesn’t usually bother me. However, if you’re going to take my money, at least serve something of decent quality. The portions don't have to be huge, but the food should be made with good ingredients, served fresh, and the hot items should be hot while the cold ones should be cold. Is that too much to ask? After all, if you're staying at an airport hotel, your dining options are often limited. That's my rant.
