Description

Elgin Buffet offers a sprawling Chinese-style buffet with sushi, hibachi, karaoke and a self-service bar. Guests praise sushi, buffalo wings and some freshly replenished trays, plus attentive staff and roomy seating, but experiences vary: reviewers report cold, over- or undercooked items, empty hot trays and uneven value for price. The venue is lively and casual—good for groups and entertainment seekers—but plan for inconsistent quality and occasional noisy karaoke.

The restaurant was clean, and the food was delicious. My husband and I will definitely return time and time again. I'm really looking forward to trying the hibachi next; it doesn't make the atmosphere smoky. I did get to try the hibachi and absolutely loved it—it was fantastic!

Nearly $20 for a lunch buffet seemed steep, especially given the limited sushi selection. The yum yum sauce was unexpectedly spicy instead of sweet. Most of the hot food trays were empty, including those for the hibachi grill. None of the dishes or appetizers had any real flavor. The orange chicken, which had just come out and was hot, was overcooked, and the breading was so tough that I struggled to pierce it with a fork. I had high hopes for a satisfying Chinese meal, but I ended up feeling quite let down. Surprisingly, the best item there was the buffalo wings, but that’s not exactly a glowing endorsement, as I didn’t come to a Chinese buffet for wings. I’m not sure if there are other buffets in the area, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend this one. I can assure you I won't be returning. Thankfully, this was my first experience at a Chinese buffet; otherwise, I might have walked away with a lasting dislike. Overall, it was terrible! Respectfully!

I was really disappointed with my experience. I drove 11 miles to try this place based on the reviews, but on a Monday evening, I found very few options for $16. The quality of the food was also lacking. Perhaps it’s better on weekends? I would recommend checking out the menu options before you pre-pay for your meal; otherwise, you might end up regretting it.

It’s a fun place to eat. The staff is very prompt as well. They also have alcohol available at a very reasonable prices as well as scratch off tickets and video poker. A true one stop shop ????
