Description

Tucked along a highway to Mt. Rainier, Scale Burgers is a nostalgic, family-run drive-in serving backyard-style burgers, crunchy onion rings, thick shakes and a solid black-bean veggie option. Orders are taken at a small window with quick, friendly service and picnic-table seating or takeaway for car-side dining. Regulars praise its consistency and summer ambiance, while some visitors note occasional waits and slightly high prices. It’s a satisfying, convenient stop for travelers and families—great for a casual, memorable roadside meal, but not necessarily a destination worth going out of your way for.

Visited Scaleburgers for the very first time today (7/6/24) with some friends. Ordered the Overload burger which was absolutely delicious. I expressed my gratitude to the young ladies who prepared my meal in sweltering conditions while maintaining a positive attitude. My burger was moist and the condiments were fresh and added a nice touch to my sandwich. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for good food at a reasonable price (I paid $15 for the burger and a medium drink). Scott D. Blount Covington, WA

I stopped by Scale Burgers while heading to the mountain, and it was a great choice! The burger was delicious, made with fresh ingredients and served on a soft bun. The sauce on the burger is their fry sauce, which is a lightly seasoned mayo that paired perfectly with the burger and the onion rings (which were breaded, not battered, and very tasty). I only had to wait about 10 minutes for my order, and I enjoyed my meal sitting outside at a regular picnic table. The vibe was nice, and the staff were friendly. Overall, it really hit the spot!

This restaurant is decent. I drive through this area every week and stop by occasionally. However, I prefer HUFF 'N ' PUFF on Highway 12 for a better drive-in experience. At Scale Burgers, you place your order at the window of a small shack, and service is generally quick, though there can be a wait depending on the time of day. Once you get your meal, you can either enjoy it at the picnic tables they have outside or take it back to your car. The Classic Burger resembles a backyard style burger—it's good, but nothing really stands out about it. I find it a bit overpriced given the casual setting. They’re only open in the summer, likely relying on tourists heading to and from Mt. Rainier to make a profit for the year. If you happen to be passing through, it’s an acceptable burger, but I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way for it.

Delicious burgers and fries! The staff was incredibly friendly. I highly recommend it as a perfect stop after a long hike.

Left Mt. Rainier and saw this little spot on the way in wanted to stop as the railroad dinning was a little slower and short staffed! Ordered the veggie burger and it came out perfectly cooked (black bean burgers) with all the veggies and their secret sauce. Ordered onion rings they were perfectly crunchy! And they served us very quickly! Ordered a neopolitan shake it was super thick and yummy! Overall super cute spot, outdoor benches with some shade! Hit the spot!
