Low rating pure up to the rude bar staff we met. I'm not sure it was a free day, but still... don't take it to your customers. We asked for beer during the happy hour to just say that they were sold out and we had to get something else. When we found a beer in stock, they didn't say that happy hour only for the same 2 beers and not different...que plenty of huffing and anger from the apathetic man who serves us. When I asked about a white wine, I was very sarcastically said that we do not serve vino blanco because nobody in Argentina knows wine. Okay, buddy... why not specify on your menu that you only serve red wine. Also funny as I managed to get a white wine in another El Chalten bar only 2 nights before, but there we go. The barman has put me away from a left side without drinking; I will not pay to be somewhere where the contempt for tourists (which basically finance bars in El Chalten) is so obvious. Take another place.
I went here on Tuesday night at 6:00 and it was closed. I believe it is closed for the season and opening hours must be updated
Stopped her for a nightcap and was impressed. Good selection of craft beers on tap and a friendly, English speaking bartender. Prices were reasonable. Most of the customers were locals who were very friendly.
Fresco has an excellent selection of craft beers, some brewed by themselves and some from local breweries in the region, every beer we tried was top draw. It has a relaxed vibe, good music and is cheap (compared to most places in El Chalten), go for happy hour (17:00-19:00) where a pint costs 60 pesos, bargain. Full price wasn't too bad either at 90 pesos. They also accept credit card too which is a bonus.
The beer was fantastic at Fresco. It really hit the spot after backcountry skiing. I'm here in late-winter so the town is pretty quiet, but there was a great atmosphere in Fresco. It really reminded me of a good ski town bar back in Colorado. It is exactly the kind of bar that I hope to find when I go someplace new. I've been to Fresco twice now, and I'll be heading back for another beer (Scotch Ale) this evening!
