To be honest this place deserves 10 stars because without them alot of families will go hungry daily . Crime would probably go up do to starvation in East County if it wasn't for these people feeding the homeless. I will always keep them in my prayers. View all feedback.
What m/m daboussi doesn't like about American Retro Diner:
Visited their food truck during TedX event in El Cajon. Family member was presenting at event. Ordered food for 4 people. Asked how long it would take, “about 15 min”. Sounds reasonable. An hour and 15 minutes later our food was ready. 2 hamburgers, 1 hotdog and 1 chicken nuggets. Well. We had enough time to run and put the food in the car for later! Glad the “green room” at TedX had snacks for our little presenter.... View all feedback.
It took about 45 minutes for the food truck to make food for my family of 3. Two burgers and a Philly cheese steak is all we ordered. The woman taking the orders was unfriendly and difficult to understand. Once we finally got our food we were pretty hungry. We were quite disappointed with the food. None of the cheese was actually melted. Everything was bland and cold. It was the worst Philly I have ever had and I've tried quite a few. I don't even like McDonalds, but I really wish we would've just grabbed some food from there instead. ?
I order from this place on Uber eats and wanted it delivered I waited 1hour and 30 min and then my driver called me saying that the place was closed and they had a number for delivery, he said that he called them but no one answered. And I still got charged without getting my food. Looking on google it’s saying that it was opened when there’re closed. I don’t recommend.

They have excellent Danishes! Not too sweet and just nice flakey delicious pastry!! Definitely give them a try!!! So yummy!!
I've been trying to support local businesses as much as I can this year, so when I came across this place on Facebook, I decided this will be where we get pie for thanksgiving. I believe they were at a different location and recently moved over to Main Street! The hours are different than most places, since they give back to the community and serve free breakfast and lunch meals from 10am-1pm, which is so amazing! You will find a variety of fresh pies, bagels, danishes, bread, muffins, and cookies! All the fillings in the danishes have the perfect amount of sweetness. Get the apple turnover if you want something flaky instead of a danish. The cranberry apple pie is a great mix, you get the tart flavor from cranberry mixed with the sweet apple filling. Overall, this a great local bakery and I can't wait to try different items.
