On our way back from Vatersay we were looking for a place to have lunch in Castlebay and stumbled across this place. There was a large amount of seating out on the decks so we parked ourselves down and made our order. Our preferred crabs and prawns was not available meaning the girls elected to go for a halloumi and avocado club sandwich and they really loved it! For my part, the hot dog was not as praise worthy, but... View all feedback.
What RuthyGlasgow doesn't like about The Deck:
Initially came here to buy the Hebridean Toffee, but the only toffee to buy was in a box just under £12? Too expensive just to taste it and thought there would be different toffees to buy? Whilst there, ordered coffee to sit outside and it was vey relaxing and great view. View all feedback.
The coffee and bacon roll were delicious, but be cautious with gluten-free options. Unfortunately, after eating the lemon cake, Wendy became very ill two hours later. We typically only buy wrapped and labeled gluten-free food for her, but the cake looked tempting. It was disheartening to see a Celiac person sick, so please exercise caution. This incident spoiled our trip to Barra.
One of only 2 places in Castlebay where you could get lunch, tea coffee etc. Seating is all outside, but we were blessed with great weather and the view is stunning. It's actually Tablet they make on site, and you can buy it in a wee tin. Genuinely up there with the best Tablet I've ever had, so a few tins came home, some as gifts. Definitely worth a stop.
We had a carry out meal as the weather was a bit on the damp side for sitting in the extensive outdoor seating. On a good weather day this is a great place to sit and have a meal or a snack. The view is across the ferry port and the bay. We were staying round the corner so not far to take a carry out meal. The portions were very good and it was very enjoyable. Well worth a visit.
One of the few dining options on the Barra. A great takeaway and outside area for breakfast and lunch. I just wish they were open beyond 4pm Mon-Thursday
Made my first and second visits to The Deck while on Barra last week but they certainly won’t be my last! 6 of us enjoyed lunch overlooking the castle on Friday and all thoroughly enjoyed the food. Their coffee is fab too and you get a wee sample of toffee with it. We then saw their takeaway menu for the weekend so on Saturday ordered one of each of their Chinese dishes that were on the menu, roast duck fried rice, chicken chow mein and the absolute star the crispy shredded chicken. All were absolutely delicious. You won’t be left disappointed (or hungry) by a visit to The Deck!
