I love this place as the service is super friendly and the food is absolutely great ! Worth stopping if you ski, you can sit outside enjoying the sun or inside also very nice. If you like Kaiserschmarren this is where you should try it, all food is home and freshly made. View all feedback.
What Fannie Wintheiser doesn't like about Gamsalm:
On our way to the bahn we passed here, stopped for a while and ate something. The food was average, but the prices were high... if you need a stop on your walk through the forrest you can, but don't expect more than average and expect to pay too much. Nice view though and friendly staff. View all feedback.
On my 20 km long hike around the Eibsee then across the border to Ehrwald in Austria, I decided to take a detour to stop at Gamsalm and very glad I did. The weather was magnificent, and besides magnificent views of the Alps I had a delicious tomato soup with some cyclists. Service super friendly and helpful. Thank you.
As there was no snow on the lower slopes, we took the opportunity to walk up the mountain to Gamsalm from Ehrwald. The sun was shining and the skies blue making the walk up through the forest and slopes very enjoyable. Once we reached Gamsalm we took a seat outside on the terrace and were quickly approached by one of the attentive staff, who was very friendly and chatted with us in English. Our food and drinks order arrived very soon afterwards and the traditional dishes we ordered were excellent. Throughout our stay the the staff were very friendly and attentive and their humorous chatting made for a very enjoyable experience. Well worth the effort of walk up the mountainside.
Such a friendly place, greatly helped by the young lady who spoke perfect English when she served us. Food and coffee were excellent.
Very good food and best Kaiserschmarrn in the world. We also recommend the Tiroler Gröstl and Knödel Tris. We'll be back.
The Skiing area around the hut is rather small but therefor you don't have to face any queues for the lift or to many people on the slopes. The Gamsalm is located directly beside the slope and you will have a perfect sunset view from the outside terrace. Inside it is a nice and traditional Austrian hut style. Perfect and most friendly service personal, and most important, BEST possible food for a mountain hut located at a ski slope! Try the Kaiserschmarrn! and also the dumpling dishes are really really nice. Also a old classic Käsespätzle is done very well. Also not to forget, surprisingly fair pricing for the food and drinks : If you are in the Ehrwald area for wintersport its a place to be for a break!! Highly recommended!
