It’s not very b... read more My family of 4 went for oldest’s 13th birthday. As with the other Japanese Villages in the Edmonton area, this newest edition didn’t disappoint. It’s not very big but still has great food, great service, great chefs, and wonderful atmosphere and decor.

We decided to have the teppanyaki experience, where they cook in front of you. We have been to many Japanese teppanyaki restaurants in town, including this one, before. The food was consistent with what we have had before, but the service was lacking. It took a while for them to start cooking because it seemed like they had to call the chef when we asked to sit at the teppanyaki table. When the chef finished cooking, he asked if we wanted more rice, which two of us did. However, the rice never arrived and no one checked on us again. We tried to eat slowly to wait for the rice, but it ended up getting cold. I even had to walk over to the kitchen area and yell several times to get someone's attention. By the time they brought more rice, we had already finished our meal, making it pointless. The same issue occurred with the check - it never came, and there was no one around to ask. I had to get up again and ask for the check at the counter by the kitchen. I hope this is not a sign of the restaurant going downhill. It may have been a one-time occurrence, but I am not sure why we would go back anytime soon. It is a shame.
