Smilie's Place - Edmonton

Food was terrible and we got in there during lunch hours and she charged us for the dinner rate. What a waste of $18 . We said we were here during lunch hours and she said so sorry they are changed. We said the sign says it is lunch she said the times changed... What a scam. The food was tasteless and most trays were half empty Everything must have been sitting out for ages not fresh at all. The dessert table had three things and the tapioca pudding was water and tasted metallic, the fruit I didn't even touch it was off color and looked like it had been sitting there for days. Will never go back!! Stay away. I just hope we don't get sick.

MY Girlfriend and I walked in to an empty room, the food look unattended to so we were about leave, the Lady then said stay I make You a good deal , so I said how about $10 each they agreed. There was just enough there to feed two people and We knew They werent gonna add any more but for $10 we thought whatever. After We got Our first plate, a table of 8 people came in and I said to My Girlfriend ha, the jokes on them now they have to add a bunch of fresh food ... and two seconds later the waitress came over and said could You please go and get more food now and I knew what she was getting at so I cut Her off and I said let me get this straight You want Us to go and clear away all the old stail food thats been sitting there all night so the other table could have the fresh food ... She had alot of nerve, My Girlfriend only took two bites and couldnt eat it anyways as it was horrible food, and I wasn 't going back for seconds...so She didnt even have to put Her foot in Her mouth. But the nerve of the lady not wanting Us to get any of the fresh food, the deal is all You can eat, its not Our fault She offered Us a deal... To top it off the table of 8 looked at the food and heard what was being said between the Waitress and Me and got up and left, and I said there thats Karma ... needless to say We will never return and I dont recommend You do either a friend of Mine who had a cleaning company did some industrial clean for them and what they found would Make the board of health very interested in a visit.

This is quite possibly the most terrible asian food I have ever had delivered. Spent $100.00 on delivery and got a mass of mostly inedible ****. shrimp and chicken balls.. nothing but batter.... beef and pea pods ... limp peas and poorly prepared beef,,, and other dishes with no effort into providing a quality meal. I ordered from skip the dishes ,,, and strongly suggest you SKIP ordering from this place all together.

The Chinese buffet here is terrible! What’s not cold and dried out, has no flavour and this was at 5:30 pm. Dumplings were dripping with grease. $85 for 3 adults and 2 small children is way over-priced for awful food! I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone nor will we ever return!! I’d give it 0 stars if I could.

We have been to Smilies many times over the years and it remains one of the few places that maintains a standard of excellence. The lunch buffet is good value and always hot and fresh. Excellent ginger beef, spring rolls, won tons etc. Always worth a stop.
