What Luboš Farkašová doesn't like about Memphis Blues Barbeque House:
Went there yesterday for take out. Got the Memphis platter as usual. The ribs where tough, the brisket which is normal my favourite part was dry and there wasn't much of it. The chicken was way over cooked, and the pulled pork didn't taste right. The BBQ sauce was very different from the last time we had it too. It's not a cheap meal ($60.00) to have thrown most of it away. The best part of the experience was the sta... View all feedback.
Not very authentic to southern BBQThe "smoked BBQ chicken" sandwich looked like the meat was just sitting there from probably yesterday.
I've had plenty of barbeque in my day where I have been to many barbeque joints and also pride myself for doing my own BBQ.
I give the customer service 4.2 stars and the food 3 stars.
Ate here tonight July 29th, 2017 in Millwoods (Edmonton Alberta) . I have eaten Southern BBQ for 20 years and I have cooked BBQ on coals and wood chips for at least 30 years. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a REAL SOUTHERN BBQ flavour. I had the TWO MEAT meal which would give me the opportunity to taste the ribs and the brisket and my wife ordered the chicken, so we covered all the basis. The brisket was tender but had no real smoked flavour, the pork ribs were soft and squishy, not sure why, almost like they were boiled, the tough fat like skin was still on the back of the ribs. The chicken was dry and again no smoked flavour. I cook wings for 60 minutes on my smoker at home and they have ten times the flavour that this chicken had. The corn bread was very dry and not that good, the cole slaw again lacked taste and flavour and I tried to add pepper to get it in my belly. The beans were OK, but again the prep cook needs to get some flavour going. I had fries with my meal and couldn’t finish them because they were coated in seasoning salt to the point where they I didn’t finish them. The sauces, all I can say is cut the molasses addition by about 80%, BBQ sauce is not supposed to be overwhelmed by one flavour, all I tasted was molasses, THATS NOT BBQ. The other sauce was similar in colour but was hot enough to apply to wings, not over the top hot but too spicy hot for BBQ, IT’S BBQ not HOT WING NIGHT, and why would you want HOT on brisket or pork ribs. I seen the special after I ordered my food and it was beef ribs, one of my favourites. I asked our server how they prepare the beef ribs and she said they cook them for 3 hours and then wrap them in PLASTIC, WHAT ????The young waitress asked us how our food was and I apologized and told her the truth similar to what I posted, she said sorry and walked away, I thought she would have brought out the manager or supervisor, but I never seen her again. This is I believe the first time ever that I have left BBQ food on my plate and refused to take it home and my better half left half her chicken on the plate. I ate at a BBQ place last week (not here) in Edmonton and the food had all that BBQ is suppose to have. My opinion only, but I would definitely suggest you try somewhere else.....Hate to be completely negative, so I will say the music was great, the Budweiser was nice and cold and the atmosphere of the restaurant was good, we ate outside as it was a beautiful warm evening. Not trying to be nasty about this place just trying to assist others in going somewhere where the taste of BBQ is more authentic.

It's a shame cause it was one of our favourite BBQ places in the city.
