The High Level diner is an old friend- comfortable, unassuming. It knows what it does well, and it continues to deliver. The veggie burgers are amazing (as it the homemade ketchup,) and their cinnamon buns are stellar- their bread pudding is made from day old cinnamon buns, and is spectacular (especially with extra caramel) . I came here to get caught up with a friend. We ordered coffee, 2 meals and 2 cinnamon buns. We chatted after we ate. Our breakfast date lasted a bit over 2 hours. The waiter came over with menus when we went to pay our bill and said "thought I'd bring you menus, maybe you're hungry again after this long" and rolled his eyes. Totally uncalled for I thought! They have some vegan items on the menu and they even make a whole vegan Wednesday. I had the pad-thai, it was a bit salty, but good. I'd try something else again.
Finally got to check out the Highlevel Diner for lunch today :) Both myself and my dining partner had the Thursday Ukrainian special.
I don't usually go out to eat alone as I feel food is better enjoyed as a communal experience, but I happened to be around the university / whyte ave area
Great location, mediocre food and service. The Ukrainian lunch plate was a disappointment. Although the borscht was excellent, the perogies had rather thick shells, and the minuscule sour cabbage rolls were okay just not sour.
Wow what an awesome stop while spending time in Edmonton!! We had a couple Ceasars, Bacon Bean soup, Borscht soup and So Gouda Burger with green salad!! Everything was over the top delicious and we will be back!! Service was excellent as well!! Thanks Kiera and entire Highlevel team!! I know why they call it Highlevel..... because of the service and food!!
