Gini's Restaurant - Edmonton

Gini's is an "old school" French restaurant in the Glenora area with some pretty good food.  The décor is a bit dated and it is located in an old strip mall so if you didn't know what you were looking for you would probably miss it or take a pass.  They have some good dinner specials though and an excellent menu with many classic French options.  Tonight I opted for the 3 Course Dinner for $49. This included the special appetizer - Frog Legs. Followed by the Duck Breast in a delicious sauce.  Unfortunately, the duck was a little overcooked despite the fact that I specifically ordered it medium rare, but that happens a lot - particularly with duck as they are used to cooking it medium.  The sauce was delicious though. The pork medallions looked good. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the desert but I chose Crème Caramel which was - well - just Crème Caramel.  Can't really do anything spectacular with that. 

I frequently lunch at Ginis They have smaller size entrees which enable on to enjoy a lunch meal other than a sandwich. Excellent soups at well

Gini's was a fabulous experience! .. from the charming server, to the excellent lattes, to the incredible desserts - our party of 4 had a wonderful and memorable evening

We dined here with friends during a recent visit to Edmonton. The restaurant is in a strip mall in the west end of the city and was known to our friends. It's small with very plain decor. The food was very good and service excellent. Portions were large and nicely presented. The noise level was low so we were easily able to converse. The wine list was adequate and the price of food and drink very fair. If you have a vehicle and want a place for dinner with conversation, this is it.

I rarely post reviews but Gini's Restaurant deserves one. I went with friends from the NWT finding Gini's from Google, The restaurant is unimposing from the outside but has a wonderful décor and comfortable atmosphere on the inside. The waiter was excellent as was the service and conversation. The food was great! Steaks and prime rib were excellent. I would and have recommended this gem of a restaurant to friends.T Square
