Went here by default. The place I wanted to go was closed. This is a nice independent place. Ordered spicy basil chicken. This was excellent. Ordered a shrimp dish (can't remember which one). It was better than the chicken. My wife wanted the crispy egg noodles. She liked it. I did not. Food was definitely affordable and very good quality. Right across the street from the basilica. What Manda T doesn't like about Bua Thai Restaurant:
Don’t waste your hard earned money. Go elsewhere!! Extremely disappointed. I would love to support local small restaurants over franchises but this restaurant is not worth the support. The quality of the food is not there and the price is outrageous. The owner definitely needs to step up, review the menu, food quality and price. View all feedback.
My son and I went to the Bua Thai restaurant tonight. We both believed what was not fast food We were not disappointed!! We ordered the Vietnamese spring rolls and it was fresh from the frit. So full of taste and crisp! For our main course we shared the Street Noodles and the Barbecue Chicken. The noodles had covered beef and vegetables in this wonderful sauce, which packed a punch! And the Barbecue Chicken was half a chicken that was crumbed with garlic and Thai flavors. We were filled! The portions were large so that we finally take something home, which I did not complain about We loved the restaurant it was clean and beautifully decorated. The owner was friendly and very attentive. We will definitely try again other dishes I took only pictures of our main course when we ate the spring rolls so fast LOL
Food served fast and tasted delicious. The only complaint is that the portion size... Tom yum soup the server said serves 4-6 ppl, but it is in a 5” bowl... my friend and me had to order to soups and I believe soup is $13 or something each. Just soup we paid over $25...It’s very pricy compare with other Thai restaurant in Edmonton. Cashew stir fry taste fantastic, as well as the soup. Only the portion and price, that’s why I gave 4 starts instead of 5.
We ordered take out tonight as our go to Thai place was closed for Christmas Eve. We’ve ordered from here a good few times and the food tastes great and authentic but the portion sizes over the past 6 months have gotten smaller and smaller. This is already a pricey Thai restaurant and when I called and asked about why that was I was told prices of food have gone up so they have decreased portion sizes in response. No other restaurant we go to has done this. We 1000% did not get our money’s worth for a stir fry that cost $18.99. Will not be returning again. Photos are of the food in their container and then transferred to our bowl.
The food was good, I enjoyed. But the attitude of the guy there makes me understand why the place was empty. So bad.
Wanted to try something new so I visited this place with my wife. At first glance from outside it looks alright but when we walked in not a single soul was inside, no music was being played and you can’t even hear the traffic from outside… dead quiet. Before we even saw the waiter, we waited at the door for two minutes and on our way out. He finally showed his face I asked “are you open” he replied “yes yes of course, most people do take out” but sitting there I realized this restaurant is not popular and people are not there for a reason, and I began to find out these reasons the longer I stayed. My first issue was the silence. It’s felt almost weird to talk to my partner. They should have at least has some kind of background music going on. Secondly, their pricing is not worth their quality or portions. I can name thousands of places that will charge less and have bigger portions. I left still hungry for which sucks because for 2 ppl I paid $90. Finally, the food quality. If you are going to be charging what you are then the plate should be some of the best food I’ve had. This was nothing but regular nothing special Thai food. I’d rather go to Thai express.
