Blue Nile is a hidden gem! Great service with wonderful authentic Ethiopian food! Love it so much. Can't say enough. The area is a little rough but the quality of the food makes up for it. Best Ethiopian restaurant in town! View all feedback.
What Toy Zieme doesn't like about Blue Nile Authentic Ethiopian Restaurant:
I gave this place a raving review last time. I am adding this one because I wonder if they have two prices for people. In this trip to the Blue Nile we ordered the same combo but added the chicken. It consisted of one small drumstick and a hard boiled egg in some dark sauce. Maybe we got more bread but it was all in one basket. The drumstick and egg added $15 to the bill. The total came to $42 to fill a small boy and... View all feedback.
The food was fantastic, and the cook gave us advise on what to order. Although the restaurant is small, approx 8 tables, and the decor so so, if you want authentic Ethiopian food, this is the place to go.
We had an excellent vegetarian combo with extra chicken and beef tib dishes. The portions were very good and was spiced perfectly. Our waitress was friendly and although the decor was very sparse, the dining experience was wonderful. We would definitely go back. New location at 107 ave and 110 Street.
Just went for supper at the Blue Nile this last week. Great food and atmosphere! It can be difficult to find great Ethiopian cuisine - but you certainly will taste it here! Large assortment of choices on the menu - friendly, helpful staff. We plan to go back to this new location many times on our trips to Edmonton!
So, don't judge a book by its cover with the Blue Nile. It may look a bit like a crack house, and it is located in a bit of the dodgy part of downtown Edmonton, but it serves up some of the tastiest Ethiopian cuisine. Most of the dishes are served on a mesob (woven tray) on a base of Injera (spongy bread.) You eat with your hands and tear off bits of the Injeria to use as your utensils. The food is very eclectic and very well seasoned dishes of veggie, chicken, lamb, and goat available. Try the Ethiopian beer! The restaurant is fairly small (less than 15 tables) and is authentically decorated. The service was great both times I have been there.
Fantastic food, price to quality ratio is great due to lack of any good competition, but is still decent as just any restaurant. Expect a unique expieriance
