So good for the soul! Just one big unfortunate misunderstanding that we absolutely did not know... if you 've reserved a table at the Aussie Club .. What PrincessEurope doesn't like about Aussie Rules Kitchen & Piano Bar:
The fried chicken is average. The BBQ pulled chicken was OK. It's hard to ruin chicken dippers. The service was inattentive. Been there, done that, don't need to go back. View all feedback.
Went on a Saturday for a stagette party - 15 people. The entertainment staff were great, as usual, but the rest of our experience was pretty terrible. Waited over 90 minutes for our food, which came out cold and not all at the same time. A few people at our table literally waited almost two hours for their food. Most of us only had one or two drinks in the four hours we were there because our waitress never came by. Then, we waited for our bills for over a half hour. And to top it all off, they put a 18% gratuity on our bills! My reservation specifically said gratuity was for 18 or more, and we only had 15. AND, why would I want to tip 18% on the entertainment fee, and the $5 per person stagette fee?! (which was disappointingly only for a plastic banner and paper napkins) - not to mention why should I tip 18% in the first place? She honestly only deserved 5%, if that. I'm actually quite sad about our experience because I used to absolutely love the Red Piano and ranted and raved about it over the years. If I ever go back to Aussie Rules, it'll just be the entertainment and I'll get my own drink at the bar.
Aussie Rules is located in the old Red Piano location on Bourbon Street at West Edmonton Mall. So far no changes have been made to the original Red Piano décor. Their menu has a wide selection including burgers; sandwiches; chicken potpie; fried chicken (to name a few).We tried the Sweet Home Alabama (fried chicken dinner); Beef Smokey Robinson (a beef sausage sandwich) and the Sinatra Caesar Salad. The Caesar Salad had crisp fresh lettuce, real shaved parmesan cheese, fresh bacon pieces and light crispy croutons. Great presentation and taste, we would order it again. The Fried Chicken had a crispy coating but the meat tasted like it was marinated in pickle brine, which gave it an intense vinegar taste (a little too strong). It was served with tasty creamy mashed potatoes and excellent Cole slaw. While good, we probably wouldn't order it again (but only because of the vinegar taste). The Beef Sausage Sandwich tasted good, it had a nice smoky flavour, but it was tough to chew and a bit messy to eat. Overall a good sandwich but we are not sure we would order it again. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was very peaceful (in a crowded Mall that’s a real plus). Their menu has plenty to offer, so we will go again, to try other items.

There are some hiccups. We didn't have our server around as much as we'd like, she was running around like crazy.A group of us went for a night out and the actual show is amazing. Super talented people. We ordered some applies to share while we waited for a couple more people to show up. The pork buns were great in flavour but the pork itself I couldn't bite so it ended up just coming out of the bun, grissle. The prawns are great in flavour also but the shell isn't cut or deveined so a bit difficult and messy, to peel and eat with the sauce.Dinner:The fried chicken is delicious. Very moist and tender. Mixed reviews on the fries. Just not hot. The gravy was cold so it was gelatinous and not too appealing. One in our party had the fish and said it was very good (monkfish that night)Sangria is a sweet one, you can taste the amaretto over anything else that is in there. I didn't order another and went to wine (decent by the bottle list).Might just need a little time to iron out the wrinkles and I hope they do because it's such a fun place to go.
The music was fun and the piano players and singers had a lot of personality.
