Reviews summary
Smoke Stack has built a reputation as a warm, unpretentious neighbourhood spot on Broughton Street where friendly service and reliably good cooking steal the show. Guests praise a varied menu that covers brunch, comforting soups, classic fish & chips, burgers and steaks alongside seafood plates and inventive takes on Scottish favourites like vegetarian haggis. The team is praised for being attentive and accommodating; the interior feels cool and clean while the soundtrack keeps things relaxed. In a street full of eateries, this place had an enticing appearance that attracted our attentionMost the clients appear to be relatively young.
We had a cauliflower soup and an all day breakfastThe breakfast was good, the best part was the sausage and the haggis is just alright.
This was the first place we ate on our tripIt was close to our AB&B We might have simply been hungry.
I and my partner came for valentine without table, but they managed to fit us in. they gave us a deadline, but that was not a problem at all. my partner had a steak and he said it was the best steak he ever had! I had a steak and ale cake and it was sooo beautiful! would recommend this place so delicious. also the staff is very friendly and welcoming.
What a sound! To see in this place chopped to see whether it is necessary to book a meal in the evening. we were greeted by a charming young woman who was polite, friendly and helpful. we were informed that a booking was advisable, although she didn't think it was busy. the place was spotlessly clean with a casual but intelligent atmosphere.Having exhausted our own arrival we arrived 4 hours early. again another pleasant greeting, this time from an equally charming man, who could not have been more helpful. I am pretty wary of amide afternoon places for a meal, because it is more quiet often the chef on a divided layer and someone else is "fills-in". not so here. the two menus “tasty-choice” and blackboard specialties were well explained and the order was taken over. the starter of fried brie, served with summer boobs was nicely cooked, not greasy and tasty. As demanded our sampi and a medium/brown filet steak came delicious in its taste simpleness. my man, well traveled and fed thought that steak was one of the most unforgettable he had ever eaten. both dishes were accompanied by particularly beautiful riders handmade on the grounds.Throughout, we were checked for without bing pestered to ensure that we were happy. boil and service were the “climbing menu” in the four-star hotel where we lived, far superior.High efficiency recommended for the quality of live products. A real gem!

Another local one for us, this time we went out with our family and decided to go for some burgers and the like. None to bad, service fine food was rather tasty and a good night was had by all. Enjoyable.
My friends and I were visiting Edinburgh for new year's, and the owners of the restaurant told us about the place. And we sat down and ate, the food was really good and delicious. I had the vegetarian Haggis, neeps and tatties. For dessert I tried the cranachan. My friend had the pork Haggis and she loved it. The staff was very helpful and hospitable.
Chicken and haggis was good, service was good nice of them to provide tap water without asking. Personally, I feel like vegetables should be included in the price when ordering a main meal.
Definitely a place you must go to while in Edinburgh. Went for a pre theatre meal and had the tomato basil soup and fish and chips. Was the best soup I've had in a while. Definitely will go back just for that if I can. The fish and chips were great as well. Not soggy like some places I've been too. The hostess was nice and pleasant and very accommodating as well. The price is right which makes it even better!

This restaurant on Broughton Street is a fantastic spot for a quick lunch, offering a variety of options including burgers, salads, and sandwiches. After seeing the delicious meals at other tables, I am excited to try their brunch options as well. The menu is diverse, featuring brunch dishes, burgers, salads, and even Scottish beef steaks. The staff are friendly and the service is prompt.
