The Tide - Edinburgh, City of

This restaurant boasts incredible ocean views! We tried the garlic bread and kirschfries and both were absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this place.

I recently celebrated my daughter's 18th birthday at this restaurant. The interior and exterior of the restaurant were both beautiful. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that our experience was exceptional, just like we always have at the Boathouse. Thank you for another wonderful visit and great memories.

The staff at the restaurant were extremely friendly, with great banter and big smiles. One of our group was very hungry and the kitchen was about to close, but they still managed to whip up a few dishes for us, which made our friend very happy. There was no irritation, just a friendly acknowledgement from the young waitress that she was also hungry. The employees seemed genuinely happy in their roles, which is rare these days as good customer service is becoming a thing of the past. The team proved that it is possible to excel in a demanding job without showing any signs of being overworked. Overall, we had a fantastic evening.

Very good food in the end (mussels and chips and a calzone pizza) and left happy because the manager gave us a large drink each to make up for a debacle with the chips. They originally came out cold and stale but when we questioned it, we were told they were fresh...which was a little insulting because freshly fried chips are quite easy to spot. Then the new chips took so long to come, we were close to complaining about this and we had finished our mussels by then. The new chips weren't amazing but freshly fried at least. I do think they handled it well though an apology goes a long way, the food was tasty and we'll be back. Will change to 5 stars if we have more immediate good service a couple of times!
