I attempted to patronize this establishment a few days ago. I would say I got there a little past 6 PM. There did not appear to be a hostess of any type on duty, but I was approached by one of the waitresses. The woman asked how many were in my party. And when I mentioned, it was just myself. I was told I would have to eat at the bar. There were perhaps 5 empty booths and tables when I arrived. When I asked about that I was told that they were being held for reservations. However, if I wanted a table or booth. I could wait about a 1/2 an hour for one. I'm sorry I do not eat at bars snd I do not like waiting.. When I go to a restaurant I wanna kind of unwind a little bit and relax. And bars are just not relaxing to me. I thanked the woman and let her know that I would be spending my dinner Money at a different establishment. I got back into my car and had dinner somewhere else. Obviously, I am unable to comment on the quality of their food. I usually like to work by the 3 strikes in your out concept before I rule an establishment, totally off limits for me. I just don't think I can do that with this restaurant
Below average to poor quality food. It's always defeaning in here. Food portions are extremely small.
This was our first and last time eating in this restaurant. Before going here I read the Trip Advisor reviews. Many rated the restaurant good and recommended the Mates Platter...others rated it no so good and thumbed down the Mates Platter. My wife and I give it a thumbs down. The restaurant is conveniently loacted right on Rte 1 in South Edgewater, and basically has the same decor as any other small town restaurant that serves edible food. My wife and I shared the Mates Platter . The fried food platter was more than ample, but the quality was basically the same as any frozen seafood you buy in a supermarket and heat it up in the oven. The entree was $26.99 plus tax plus tip. The waitress did a good job of taking care of us in a non-intrusive manner. We arrived early, and when we left I was surprised to find the parking lothalf full...a lot of customers for that early an hour. We are home now, and trying to assuage our upset stomachs. We will not be going here again.
This is a very small and dimly lit roadside establishment, reminiscent of old Florida. It serves as a casual bar, restaurant, and nightlife spot for the locals. The menu features mostly fried foods, with the beef and ribs standing out, although the prices feel a bit steep. On the plus side, the service was excellent.
I dined at this restaurant three times during my vacation in New Smyrna Beach. The food was excellent, the prices were reasonable, and the service was very good. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend.

We were in town from West Palm Beach for a quick weekend fishing trip discovered this amazing restaurant and came back the second night! The owner Ninee was so nice, and waitress Heather was the sweetest! Our food was DELICIOUS! The rock shrimp are to die for! The gator tail was the best we?ve ever had. Their homemade corn fritters are heavenly! Literally everything we ordered was delicious!! Next time we?re in Edgerton we will 100% be back!!! Thanks so much for a great 2 nights of dining happy full bellies!! ??
The waitress she was AWESOME ????!! Dinner was Great and came home with leftovers!! I think everyone in the back for coming to work if it wasn't for them I would have nothing to eat and I also shared half of my birthday cake with them!! I found that in any business that I walk into..when I walk out..I love to say, thank you very much for showing up for work!! In today's world, it's very hard to find good help!! Kudos to everyone that worked on 8-24-2022!!!
JC Riptides is, hands down, our favorite restaurant! The food is top notch and the service always exceeds our expectations!
One of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had! The staff is so friendly and accommodating. The food is seriously 5 star restaurant quality! JC's Riptides is a hidden gem! The stuffed lobster and rock shrimp are a must!
Rock shrimp was excellent. As was the conch fritters for the appetizer. Even the fries that came with the meal were really good. Only downside were the hush puppies that another member in my party got with her meal. They were too dense and hard (I tried a piece for myself), which made them too unpleasant to finish. But at least she really liked her mahi mahi, which came lightly fried.

Came here for the first time and will be visiting again for sure. The atmosphere is nice and out server was great! The food came out prompt, hot and fresh!! Would definitely recommend this place!
Blackbeard's in New Smyrna USED to be my all time favorite restaurant. I am a retired Flight Attendant so I have a lot to compare it to. JC Riptides is our favorite place to dine now!! NEVER have to wait for a table, always get our favorite server, Nicole, and the food it to die for!! The food, staff and service is by far the best around!! Give it a go!!! You will NOT be disappointed!! P.S. the rock shrimp are my favorite!!! Simply delicious!! Prime Rib is AWESOME as well!! Thanks Nine~ee!!!! GREAT job!
Never had a bad meal there. Love the homemade salad dressings and hush puppies, seafood and prime rib are 2 die for!
Absolutely amazing! From the homemade dressings to the yeast rolls, sauces, and hushpuppies, this restaurant is a true delight! The sea mussels were perfectly cooked and incredibly sweet. We were referred by friends, Jimmy and Kelli Stanley, and it certainly lived up to their recommendation. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive. I couldn't help but notice how warmly the family welcomed the staff and how the 'regulars' were treated. It created such a pleasant atmosphere that we will definitely be recommending this place and coming back ourselves! Thank you to JC's Riptides and their wonderful staff!
This restaurant is fantastic! The service is consistently excellent, and the food is outstanding. Our server, Nicole, did an exceptional job. The seafood is cooked to perfection. This place is part of our regular dining rotation, and we visit twice a month. It's definitely worth a visit!
