What TheSugarl dislikes about Cafe Archetypus:
The atmosphere is cool and the staff is friendly. Regarding desserts, I tried the Ariel sundae, which had an amazing flavor, but the portion sizes were disappointingly small for the price. Just a heads up: the size of the brownies is quite misleading—they're literally bite-sized, so you can pop one in your mouth in a second. For the price, that’s a bit concerning. Unique dining experience. Delicious food and fantastic service . Highly recommended!
Total good experience. Our server was always switched on, which was kind of lame. Where did the first guy go? But together they were attentive. Lunch in dark cave was nice and relaxing. The teapot is great no matter what you get. Portion sizes are very generous. Food tastes absolutely delicious. The dessert should die honestly! Definitely recommend everyone in the area.

What kind of owner fails to update their Google listing about being closed for maintenance? I drove over an hour to get here, only to find it shut down.

I apologize for not taking a photo before the three brownies got completely covered by the two scoops of ice cream!

Very upset. I drove 40 min to surprise my husband on a nice date. First time coming to this restaurant. I waited another 40 min for a table for them to tell me they ran out of CHICKEN AND MEAT!!!! I was so upset. What should have been a romantic dinner ended up so wrong. This made me so upset I even started crying. Can you imagine wanting to surprise someone who likes meat to a nice meal and not being able to fulfill what you have planned? How does a restaurant run out of meat? Good thing I have a good husband that consoled me as I was crying because there was no food I can offer. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone.
I use to come here so often and was excited to come again for a friend’s birthday dinner. I was disappointed to see the menu was shortened down from 8 dinner options to 4. They had taken amazing staples off the menu but I was determined to keep a good outlook. I ordered the cheese quesadillas and was so disappointed. The quesadillas were smaller than usual with absolutely no flavor. The chicken was bland and tasted store bought. The cheese was hard and had absolutely no pull. There was no vegan options and the only thing vegetarian on the menu was hummus that was not what it used to be either. Ambiance is still great just bring back the old menu it’s not worth coming with the menu so lack luster.

I always feel a bit wary when a restaurant is extremely dimly lit. What are they trying to conceal? On a rainy Saturday night, I decided to drop by without a reservation and was promptly seated in a booth at the back, which felt like a cave. I truly mean it when I say this place is very dark—candles were the only source of light. Now, onto the food. We ordered the hummus, the chicken gyro plate, and the falafel plate. The hummus was delicious and came with about eight pieces of pita. Both the chicken gyro and falafel plates were quite large and also included pita and a salad. The salad dressing was fantastic! However, the chicken and falafel were just okay—not particularly memorable. For dessert, we tried the tiramisu, which was excellent. Overall, the prices are reasonable considering the generous portion sizes.
I was blown away the moment I stepped inside. The staff were incredible and very polite! The food was excellent overall. I wasn't a fan of the Tiramisu, but the chocolate cake? Oh my gosh, it was honestly the best chocolate cake I've ever had! I will definitely be returning!
This restaurant is truly unique. If you’re in the area, you should definitely pay a visit. They have an extensive selection of desserts and beverages to choose from.
My experience at Cafe Archetypus was a bit mixed. The staff were friendly, though service was somewhat slow. Portions were very large but rather average in quality. The Gyro was satisfactory, but it came with a salad that felt unnecessary—while I enjoy salad, it should be optional rather than a standard side. The drinks stood out as flavorful and enjoyable. They were also very understanding when we arrived late due to traffic and accommodated our reservation without issue. The dessert was stunning—a chocolate cheesecake topped with homemade brownie pieces and raspberry sauce—and it was absolutely delicious. Overall, I’d rate the cost 3/5 (a bit pricey for oversized servings), service 3.5/5, entrees 3/5, dessert 5/5, drinks 4/5 (house-made, not fountain soda), and atmosphere 4/5. My final rating is 4/5, rounded up.
Cafe Archetypus is a charming, serene, and romantic spot perfect for a date night. I love the cozy design and ambiance. The food is excellent, featuring a good range of vegan options, with the hummus standing out as exceptional. Although they don’t serve alcohol, there is a broad selection of non-alcoholic drinks available. The dessert menu is extensive. The service is friendly, attentive, and efficient, with no designated waiter system—any staff member can help you, which is very convenient. While the main course options are somewhat limited, the portions are satisfying; two appetizers and a gyro easily fed two people.
