This hidden gem in a remote location was a fantastic discovery. We had a wonderful Sunday lunch, with portions so generous that they could easily be halved and still be worth every penny. We were really looking forward to coming here for Sunday lunch but we’re very disappointed. 16.95 for their Sunday dinner was not justified. 6 small carrot batons. 1 tiny broccoli head. Two tiny pieces of cauliflower.7 runner beans between two people. Stopped in the Punchbowl Inn for a short break in Cumbria and couldn't have been more impressed. the staff, especially Johnny were very attentive and couldn't do enough for us. The room was lovely and the breakfast was fantastic. I would absolutely recommend the Punchbowl if you are thinking of the lakes and want something away from the hustle and bustle of the usual lakeland towns.

Popped in for lunch whilst walking our dogs. Felt very welcome and plenty of floor space for our 3 big mastiffs. I had the partridge and my partner had the mushrooms, all very nice and well cooked. Table service and also brought water for the dogs.
Lovely pub. Nice food. Very very friendly service. Had a a great time. Would recommend it for over night stays or Sunday lunch. Thank you
Our children being served sour, long off milk should have been the cue to leave, but we had regrettably, already ordered lunch. Fish and chips £18.95! subsequently made me very sick that evening. Staff seemed pleasant, but very stressed and clearly under supported. Avoid!
