Visited for diner whilst staying nearby. The weather outside was dreadful but the inn was cozy with its log burner and welcoming staff. We both had a lovely meal and would definitely visit again when in the area View all feedback.
What Angela D doesn't like about The Herdwick Inn:
We went to this restaurant for the first time since the new owner took over. The server, a young man, was very pleasant and friendly. Although the food took some time to arrive, we all thought it was very tasty. My only complaint is that the owner showed no interest, which was surprising. This restaurant was a lifesaver! My boyfriend and I decided to walk 2 miles from Whitbarrow Village for dinner and drinks at 7pm. The food was delicious and the staff were incredibly friendly. We had planned to take a taxi back, but couldn't find one in the area. The owner and bar staff were concerned about us walking back, and quickly offered us a ride back to our accommodation. We were thrilled with the food and service, and even had a fun game of pool. The staff were amazing and we are grateful for their kindness in giving us a lift.

Stopped in for supper as was staying in the area. Nice, warm, welcoming bar. Open fire. Friendly staff. Ordered the steak and ale pie. It was great. Would have ordered another if I'd had room. Can't ask for better than that. Fully recommend.
Very nice pub with an olde world atmosphere. nice log fire burning away made the place very warm and cosy. Steak pie was wonderful(not a bit of gristle anywhere). My wife had the cod and chips and she was very pleased. Tasty cold pint. Bliss!! What more could anyone want
My daughter and I were searching for a comfortable pub to have lunch. The website didn't provide much information, but we decided to go anyway. We were welcomed by a very friendly staff member, ordered our drinks, and started browsing the menu. She kindly offered to put our drinks on a tab. The menu featured some enticing local dishes, and I decided to try the game pie from the specials list. It was incredibly tasty and came with carrot and swede mash, crisp sugar snap peas, mashed potatoes, and gravy.
