Excellent friendly service, nothing was to much trouble. The food was lovely, the fish and chips were fabulous and the coronation chicken sandwich was delicious. Will definitely be back soon. View all feedback.
What kelles123 doesn't like about Horse And Farrier:
Yes this is an old coaching inn full of character but I think £5.95 for 10 olives and 4 pieces of crostini is pushing it to say the least. The main course was pleasant enough but nothing special. Real ales also seemed expensive. Having said that would probably return. View all feedback.
Way a delicious pub/restaurant. Different departments that keep it atmosphere. Just because it's busy makes sense is because it's just really...
This charming spacious pub has ample seating and a well-staffed team. It is family and dog-friendly (excluding the carpeted area). The menu offers a variety of options and the food is excellent. The attentive and courteous older waiter provided great service. The pub appears to be quite busy, so booking ahead is recommended. I would definitely come back again.
Couldn’t fault the staff and food, felt really welcomed on the multiple nights we came in with our Labrador puppy. Our air BnB host recommended the pub as a place to visit and I can tell why! Thanks for looking after us every time we came in and thank you for the doggy treats for our puppy will definitely revisit if we are in the area again!
Having last visited the Horse and Farrier four years ago and back then we had an amazing evening we were looking forward to our return visit. How disappointed we were! Firstly as the night progressed and the kitchen staff drifted out of the kitchen and over took the bar area they were loud, used language that would be un acceptable on a 1970s building site and their topic of conversation calling their so called colleagues was out of order and not something that a paying customer should have to listen to. I'm no prude but when out with my wife we should not have to listen to such crude topics with such revolting language. Our food was OK, but nothing to write home about. I had fish and chips and my wife had the Sunday Dinner, they were both fine and nothing to complain about but nothing special. The drinks are higher priced than average for the Lake District and the beer selection has certainly dwindled since our last visit. On a possitive note, the young lady who served our meal was polite and helpful and the older lady behind the bar topped up my beer without me needing to ask. Will we go again, no! Would we recommend, no! Please return to your old ways.
Stayed overnight at the H and F in their dog friendly accommodation 'The Salutation Inn ' across the road from the pub hotel. Dog friendly room was spacious with bowls and bed area for the dog and large double bed with large plasma tv for our comfort. Tea and coffee facilities including biscuits. Room was very clean and neatly furnished. Dinner and breakfast across the road at the Horse and farrier pub had facility to include your dog on non carpeted dining area and staff were welcoming and professional. Food was excellent nd service very efficient . Would definitley recommend this to others- perfect for walkers, close to Keswick and you can take your dog.
