We were in area to taste Armignac and arrived just after twelve. Restaurant was already busy and at first service was slow. It was a market day so town was very busy We all went for Menu de jour which was three course meal with wine at thirteen euros per person. Food and wine were great and service seemed to improve once we had first course. A very enjoyable meal as long as you are not after fast food experience. View all feedback.
What GasconSue doesn't like about Divan Le:
I have been going to this acfe for years, but the newest owner/manager is one of the unfriendliest people in Eauze. When the cafe is crowded on market day he is even worse. He has denied people tables, taken them by the arm and led them to the door if they take a table he hasn't said it's alright to sit at and told me to to sit down and wait for service when it took forever to order. We book a table for lunch. When we arrived on time we had to wait 10 mins for our table to be prepared. The service was haphazard the meal disappointing.
Eauze has a great farmers market on thursdays, one of my favorites, after that most locals meander over to Le Divan for either a coffee or a quick lunch. They have renovated the place, and it looks like a cafe in Barcelona...nice! The waiter is a kick, and the food can be good at times, especially after being at the market all morning. Worth it for the ambiance alone!
I live and work in Eauze and sometimes require a quick lunch. I always go to la Divan. Starter is immediate, so is the main. Never had a bad meal here. In the summer month it's the best place to be, especially outside on the terrace. Improved since new owners.
We had lunch yesterday, a word of warning for those expecting the Plate du Jour menu, it is not available on a Saturday so we opted for the 17 Euro set menu. Salad was good but the Confit duck and frites was disappointing, the duck was not tender and the frites were hard and dry too. If you like restaurant cats that beg at tables then this place is for you, service was ok as was the wine and the coffee.
