The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, and when I moved to a different table, the staff were more than happy to assist. It's very family-friendly, making both my children and other kids feel welcome. The garden is beautiful, although it's a bit close to the river. There is ample parking available, and it's accessible for families with children and those with disabilities. The parking is barrier-free, and there's eas... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Toby Carvery Bishopstoke (southampton):
Turkey was dry and the smallest piece was being cut so was like powder.Chose beef instead that was mainly fat. There was no mashed potato, when we enquired we were told there wasn't any that day. Barely any choice of veg.Very disappointed. View all feedback.
I received a friendly welcome, but unfortunately, that was about the best part of my experience. The bar service was slow, and the food took even longer to arrive. The quality of the food was quite poor, and I noticed a lack of cleanliness overall. I wouldn’t choose to return.
We were warmly greeted and promptly seated by the friendly staff, and it became apparent that there was no need to provide a registration number on weekends. Since we had made a reservation, which seemed essential for a Sunday visit, we were grateful. Our waitress was attentive and served us with a bright smile. Although there was a line at the carvery, it moved swiftly. The food was hot, beautifully presented, and exceptionally tasty. Our dessert arrived quickly, but we never felt rushed. Overall, it was an excellent meal in a pleasant atmosphere that I would highly recommend. Thank you!
Additionally, when the staff restocked the buffet, they carelessly tipped the eggs into the dish, causing grease to splatter everywhere, including on me. It felt like everything was a chore for the staff, with the phrase "I'll have to go and get that" being all too common. The managers seemed disengaged, sitting around with laptops and discussing complaints over coffee outside, rather than actively managing the situation. They even told the staff to stop serving breakfast after 10:30, even though breakfast is supposed to be available until 11:00. Moreover, the exterior of the building needs some attention, along with an urgent safety inspection. There were broken plugs at the entrance, held together with tape, and the outdoor lights were broken as well. I shudder to think what condition the areas out of sight might be in. We won’t be returning and will choose the Beefeater instead.
First of all, my group had booked 2 tables separately and asked if we could have them seated next to each other however when we arrived turns out one of my friends had accidentally booked a table for the wrong week and of course it was really busy that day as it was a bank holiday. However the staff were WONDERFUL and were so so helpful and they so kindly seated us in the section that you have to reserve and we had a wonderful waitress who waited on us so nicely the whole time and always made sure we had everything we needed. The food was of course DELICIOUS, and we all had such a good time. We were accommodated so so well and had a lovely meal. Will definitely come back 10/10
Just had the most amazing Toby! The meat served by Steve was amazing as always and he is always so polite! The food was incredible, we couldn’t fault any of it and the gravy was spot on. The waitress Sarah though is what would bring me back, even if the food was a bit pants I would come back just to see her again! I haven’t laughed so much this week and she really makes the experience 100 times better. We could hear people laughing at all different tables and this was due to her, the atmosphere was brilliant due to her humour and kindness! If you go you won’t be disappointed with the food but definitely ask for Sarah as a waitress you won’t be disappointed!
