Description

The Bugle offers a range of dining experiences, from excellent fish and chips to disappointing portion sizes. While some guests rave about the friendly service and delectable desserts, others note issues with food quality and pricing, such as high drink costs and added service charges. The atmosphere seems to vary, with some enjoying cozy lunches while others find it lacking. However, the accommodating staff, including the manager's attention to dietary needs, shines through. Overall, patrons appreciate the efforts of the team but are left divided over the value for money and culinary consistency.

Enjoyed lunch on the terrace. different things on the menu to the usual offerings in similar gastro pubs. I made the wrong choice with the hot dog I 'd have preferred a less fussy version with the additions (sauerkraut, onions, etc. on the side instead of within the bun and not to have the drizzle zig zag. I should have opted for the seafood linguine. The tempura prawns (shared and my wife 's scallops were excellent, and the chocolate brownie, very good if a trifle expensive. Overall, a good leisurely experience. My only adverse comment was the 'discretionary Service charge ' added to the bill, just as that and no a mention that this was calculated at the level of 12.5 . I think this should be highlighted on the bill itself.

Lyburn Garlic and Nettle cheese soufflé was scrumptious and I would definitely have it again. Any one thinking of going should book as it was fully booked.

We went too the Bugle for lunch, the place was empty, and we were given a table in the window, the heating wasn't on and it was cold, we had to wear our coats the whole time, The food was average, my Chicken pie lacked Chicken and left me hungry, Estrella £7.20 a pint!, the bill showed 6 items (4 were drinks) and a 12.5% service charge! so effectively a pint was over £8, What is it with service charges in pubs?, there's no table cloths, napkins etc, in the end £67+ for a fish and chips and an inadequate pie, in the cold, I am not surprised there were no other customers, wont be going back!

Wonderful food and such a warm relaxing atmosphere. We both had the Lyburn [local producer] garlic and nettle cheese souffle with wholegrain mustard sauce, radicchio walnut salad. It was absolutely delicious, two plates licked clean. It was really busy so we sat at the bar but not once did I think I was uncomfortable which bar stools can be, these had upholstered seats and backs.

Went to the wine tasting dinner earlier in the month, first time back after a horrendous experience 4 years ago, and we were so impressed we booked again. What a mistake, we won’t be rushing back. Hardly anyone in the pub but our food still took an hour to arrive. When it did finally arrive it was obvious that the new head chef had the day off. Over use of salt in the seafood linguine, and over cooked burgers, with only a threat of bacon. Very disappointing.
