What John R doesn't like about The Village Fish Chips:
First we had the fake French greeting... A simple order of saveloys and chips took forever to serve and when they did arrive the chips were greasy and didn't taste right. The microwaved saveloys were tasteless. Very disappointing all round Best avoided IMHO View all feedback.
Whenever I'm in Eastbourne and in the mood for some fish and chips, The Village is my go-to spot. The fish is always cooked to perfection and the staff are incredibly friendly. Highly recommended!
We visited this cafe for the first time after our usual spot in Eastbourne closed. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. This establishment definitely falls in the cafe category rather than a restaurant, so do not expect anything extravagant. However, the fish and chips we ordered were some of the best we've ever had; hot, fresh, with large pieces of fish perfectly battered and golden, crispy chips. There is a variety of accompaniments to choose from. The cafe has a license to serve alcohol if desired. The restrooms were clean and seemed recently updated. The tables and chairs were slightly sticky, possibly from cleaning products, but this was a minor issue compared to the delicious food. Our meal, including soft drinks, totaled £20 which we found to be very reasonable. We would definitely return in the future.
I ordered a large cod and chips for takeout, which was freshly cooked and ready in just 7 minutes. The batter was light and crispy, and the chips were perfectly cooked - crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The fish was thick and white, and overall, the meal was top-notch. While it may not be the most affordable option in Eastbourne, it is definitely the best.
I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. The customer service was excellent, the ambiance was clean and cozy, and the food was delicious and fresh. I highly recommend paying a visit to this spot for a great meal.
After finishing a long coastal walk, my wife and I were in search of some tasty fish and chips to replenish our energy...and this restaurant delivered. Trying huss for the first time, I was amazed at how delicious it was. Our server, Natalie, was incredibly friendly and kind. Unfortunately, we were unable to leave a tip on card for her as we had no cash. We will definitely be returning soon.
