Contribute FeedbackToby Carvery presents a mixed dining experience, with service and atmosphere often shining brighter than the food itself. While several patrons appreciate the attentive and friendly staff who create a welcoming ambiance, many express disappointment regarding the quality and temperature of the meals. Subpar meat portions, cold vegetables, and uninviting gravies mar the culinary reputation. Despite these criticisms, there are positive notes, such as the praise for specific dishes and staff demeanor. Overall, while some diners recommend a visit for a casual meal, others caution potential guests about the inconsistencies and possible hygiene concerns nearby.
My partner and I went out for dinner last night and were extremely disappointed. We are big fans of Toby Carvery and have been to many of their locations. We made a reservation online and specifically asked not to be seated in a walkway, but we were placed at a table in a walkway. The table was dirty and a staff member had to clean it while we were seated. There was no cutlery on the table. As someone who works in hospitality, I was not impressed with the level of customer service and felt that further training is needed. We ordered a pot of pigs in blankets for £6.95 and found them to be of poor quality. There were only 6 mini pigs in blankets for that price, which we found to be shocking. When we went up to the carvery to get our food, we found that the food was old and the stuffing was hard and dry. Even the new batch they brought out was not much better. The beef joint looked like a decent size, but the quality of the beef was poor and very fatty. Overall, we were very disappointed with our dining experience.
I arrived 15 minutes late to the restaurant due to difficulties with my sat nav. When traveling from the direction of Beverley, the postcode did not take me to the correct address, so I had to search a bit due to my lack of local knowledge (it said I was there when I was still a mile or so away). However, when I arrived, the staff were unfazed and our table was still available. The restaurant was very busy, but there were plenty of staff present and we were soon seated with our drinks order taken. We had the carvery and despite having to queue for a few minutes, we were soon back at our table enjoying our meal. The food was very good, and the rhubarb crumble was delicious. It was a pleasant meal in nice surroundings with attentive staff taking care of us. Overall, a great experience and I would definitely visit again.
Very nice well organised restaurant, lovely staff, kind and helpful, the food was lovely, with a choice of five meats. Definitely will recommend and return.
I booked my Christmas Dinner paid £10 deposit, the staff told me I didn't have to book breakfast. I was booked in at the hotel next door to Toby Carvery. On Friday 7th December I get an email saying there isn't any breakfast on Christmas day so this company expects me to go hungry until 2pm on Christmas day when everything is shut. So I cancelled my stay and Toby carvery are now refusing to give me the £10 deposit back so they have practically stolen from me which is terrible.
A very tasty festive lunch for 4 of us having a carvery and pudding, the meat is good quality especially the lamb and all of the accompaniments are delicious! Friendly staff from the moment we stepped in the door. Many thanks. We will be back!
