The Olive Tree Coffee Shop And

We stopped off here for lunch on our trip to the coast. The chap who was by the entrance was welcoming and friendly but that's where it ended. We approached the cafe and the long faced staff weren't welcoming at all. We were asked if we had booked...well obviously not, it's a garden centre. We were then told we could sit outside the main part even though inside was barely full. We decided on a drink as the food was ridiculously priced. Friends had tea which they said was fine but my coffee was awful. On paying my friend was met with a very abrupt member of staff who was rather rude to her. The moral of this story is....don't bother. It's not worth it to be ripped off and to not be made welcome. Maybe if you are local it's different but we shall not be visiting again. We took our business elsewhere on our journey, had.better food, better price and served with smiles etc.

My husband and I went to the garden center to buy a good trowel and decided to stop in for a coffee and sandwich. We used to frequent this cafe about 5 or 6 years ago and it was a favorite of my mother's. Unfortunately, the atmosphere in the cafe/restaurant seems to have changed. A man waiting to be seated was ignored for over 5 minutes until we encouraged him to walk past the 'wait to be seated' sign, at which point he was finally noticed. We were seated shortly after. The waitress was very pleasant, no issues there. However, the lunch menu was quite boring and the prices were high for the average food offered. We were so disappointed that after looking at the menus, we decided not to stay. In my opinion, there are at least three better value cafes in the area with more interesting options for lunch.

Shocking service, staff told us wrong specials, limited menu meant we decided to go elsewhere after our drinks. Made worse by being called back in to the cafe 5 minutes after paying to be told the note was fake. I feel absolutely scammed as there was no way of proving it was the note I’d paid with and the note had come from a cash machine the day before! Avoid the place!

The mackerel and salad with tartare sauce were excellent, blending together for a delightful mix of flavors. The staff were friendly, efficient, and helpful. While the prices were not cheap, the experience was definitely worth it. The restaurant was clean, including the restrooms. It was also very child-friendly with plenty of smiles all around. I highly recommend this place.

Olive tree is lovely eating place, especially after a walk with friends. The food is top notch ….everything about this eating establishment astounds me, standards are excellent ….quality of the food, friendly staff, it’s clean and warm with no blaring music ….I would recommend eating here to anyone who likes eating out.
