The Hope Anchor Inn

This lovely pub is a diamond in the rough. The staff were attentive, friendly and gave great service overall and throughout. The place had a great atmosphere with a mixture in the afternoon of all ages and groups. The food was fantastic, especially the homemade Wensleydale quiche which was delicious. Followed by the very generous portion size of Sticky Toffee Pudding. Would definitely recommended and would love to return if I’m in the area again!

We visited on NYE, with our friends and neighbours, 3 had Fish and chips and one had the Chicken Tikka Masala, it was all freshly cooked, well presented and great value for money, top tip…..go hungry !

Called in last night for a meal. Looking forward to it after lockdown. Very disappointed.Had to ask for menu after 20 mins. Waited 1 hour for food after ordering. When food arrived the wairess asked if we wanted anything else. I replied yes some cutlery would be nice Fish was very strong flavored and not really nice. All in all not a good meal out. Very slow service and poor as well and food not to the standard that it used to be. Seemed the kitchen was more interested in dealing with take aways that seated customers.

Delicious home-cooked meals, generous servings, fair prices, and kind staff. I will definitely be coming back.

Well this place can't get much passing trade, especially in these Covid-19 times! But really nice meal here today, double-cheeseburger and chips with side-salad was really tasty, and my dining partner's fishcakes were huge (and tasty too! Washed it down with a nicely-kept pint of Wainwright's. Couldn't fault the place, great value and friendly service. Would definitely return if in the area again (I'd also recommend it as a good place for cyclists, walkers and birders!
