I had a delightful experience returning to the Downe Arms. This pub embodies the true essence of Snaith with its rich history. It was fantastic to witness its popularity among both locals for drinks and dining, a promising sign. The steak and ale pie was packed with steak, served with a generous portion of chips and mushy peas, and topped with a delicious, flavorful gravy. The fried cod dish was also impressive, with... What Josephine duprez doesn't like about The Downe Arms:
Beware the checkin time is until 10pm. We arrived 11pm (we know we were pretty late as we had a 4 hour drive already and saw the door was closed, and no lights form inside. Then we just checked our booking email and realised the checkin time is til 10pm. We also tried to call them but in vain. I know it is not their faulty. But I was a bit surprise that a small run business (maybe a family run? is not care about late... View all feedback.
The scampi and chips at this restaurant were excellent. The food was expertly cooked and the portions were generous. The staff were genuinely kind and helpful.
Everyone lovely and helpful, however rooms are tired and bathroom shower screen and bathroom generally grubby. My biggest issue was the bed. It was painful to sleep on. Definitely in need of a new mattress.
My husband and i had the pleasure of staying at The Downe Arms when we were let down at the last minute. The room was excellent and exactly what we needed. We had our evening meal in the pub and it was absolutely awesome. Steak and onion baguette wow it was the best i have had in a long time. The portion was substantial, the chips homemade and very tasty. The staff were all friendly and most helpful. I would recommend staying there anytime
Visit here most weekends. Food is great . Service is great . Great atmosphere. Very welcoming. Great as well as kids are welcome , and nothing is an issue for them. Beer is great and its great that the land lord has good knowledge about beer. By far best pub aroud. Will continue to go there. Better than the others in the town.
Arrived very late, 11.15pm, at The Downe Arms on the first leg of the TPT. Staff had a curry waiting for us still and it tasted great. Rooms were clean and tidy, breakfast top notch. The next day through injury and bike issues I couldn't continue so I was going to get a taxi to Selby for train journey back to Manchester. Steve wouldn't hear of it and took me to the station himself. Legend. Lovely owners, they deserve the business!!!
