While diners praise the generous portions and reasonable prices, some have noted inconsistencies in food quality and service. The garden centre is dog-friendly, although some visitors reported restrictions. Despite the occasional staffing issues and long queues, the large, airy restaurant, along with a well-stocked pet accessory department, makes it a favored destination for families and garden enthusiasts. Overall, the mix of good food and charming surroundings keeps customers coming back, albeit with some room for improvement.
I am disappointed to say that the service at this restaurant has recently declined. During my visit on October 23rd, I ordered two small Americanos with hot milk, but received two cups filled to the brim with coffee, placed on saucers soaked in coffee. After requesting clean saucers, I struggled to add the milk as the coffee was weak. Additionally, I opted not to try the cake as it was uncovered on top of the display cabinet with flies on it. I hope the restaurant will address these issues, as they do not align with my previous positive experiences.
We had two jacket potatoes that were burnt. It should not be difficult to cook a potato properly, but unfortunately, we were unable to eat them.
My partner ordered a full English breakfast and even he couldn't finish it. The bacon was slimy, the sausages were white with a small brown cooked line, and the rest of the ingredients were subpar. It seemed like the breakfast had been cooked in the oven instead of a pan, which resulted in a lazy, mass-produced meal. There were only a few other customers in the restaurant at the time, and it's no longer worth the money. It's a shame because it used to be decent. For a better meal from the same menu, we recommend trying the restaurant at your sister garden center in Gilberdyke, which is miles ahead in terms of quality.
Had carvery, couldn't have most of the veg or any of the potatoes... already knew I would miss out on Yorkshire pudding. Apparently the carrots are cooked in butter as well as the roast potatoes! I had 2 slices beef, green beans and swede with gravy rubbish value for money! Felt I had to apologise for asking although I had actually asked at start of the carvery. My daughter also had battered Quorn and chips, I had to ask for the salad and BBQ sauce to be brought to the table as they had forgotten all that! Rubbish service and rubbish value for money
Haddenham garden centre. Big dog and pet accessory department. Well stocked. Have used this garden centre many times with #rockylongdog as they are dog friendly as advertised on their website, or so I thought. Had gone to purchase a harness so needed to take #rockylongdog in for size. “Sorry, no dogs allowed”. I asked why as it’s advertised on your website that you are dog friendly. “We have had problems”. Was the response. Have a look on Insta and you will see #rockylongdog. Disappointed as had my mum with me who suffers from Alzheimer’s and she could not grasp why we could not go in. Anyhow, went to Dobbies Wendover and no problems. Great pet section and #rockylongdog was sorted out.
