I know it's a simple meal, but this jacket potato with tuna mayonnaise was to die for. A lovely jacket potato with a crispy skin and the fluffiest inside ever topped with really well seasoned tuna mayonnaise, with a delicious salad garnish. I've had it three times now and it's always perfect. The chips I stole off my mate's plate were brilliant as well. I also had a a couple of pints of well cared-for real ale. All t... I stumbled upon this restaurant by chance with a group of friends and we were pleasantly surprised by the experience. The staff greeted us warmly and we were impressed by the wide selection of food available. I thoroughly enjoyed my prawn cocktail starter and roast dinner - they were delicious, on par with my grandmother's cooking, which is high praise indeed! I would definitely return and highly recommend this place to others.
My family and I went to this restaurant for Sunday lunch. There were 10 of us and we received a fantastic welcome from all of the staff. We had pre-booked a table and were made to feel at home immediately. The bar area was spacious and had lovely views of the golf course, while the restaurant was warm and welcoming with large windows letting in the feeling of being outside. The tables were well set up with everything we needed, including flowers in the center. We had a choice of meats and the roast potatoes were delicious. There were plenty of vegetables and lovely Yorkshire puddings. We felt very special and the couple running the restaurant, Mel and Gemma, were a credit to the golf club. I would highly recommend a visit to this place as you will want to return, I guarantee it. You could also enjoy a round of golf before your meal if you'd like. The prices were very reasonable for the excellent quality of food served. Our best wishes go to Mel, Gemma, and their staff for making our day so memorable. Thank you xx.
A really frelaxing and enjoyable sunday lunch. The food was excellent, a home from home sunday lunch with succulent beef. The staff are friendly and helpfull and made the day very relaxing.
Heard Oundle Golf Club catering were offering a new Sunday Carvery, went to the 4 pm sitting and wow! Just fabulous, meat was so tasty and great selection of veg and the gravy was spot on!!! Had cheesecake to die for? Great value too!!! Will be regulars!! Thanks ladies about time Oundle had a fabulous Sunday roast
We used Oundle as a meeting point to see our son who works in Marham and we were travelling from Tamworth. (1.15hrs drive from each point). We looked at the pubs in the town centre and decided that sitting in a crowded, cramped pub with fellow dinners inches away was not for us. We gambled on having a family Sunday Lunch at Mel and Gems which is a few minutes from the town centre. Situated at the Oundle golf clubhouse overlooking the golf course and surrounding fields. Decor very nice with a separate bar and restaurant area. Tables were well presented and the area was spacious and light. We felt very comfortable and looked forward to having a conversation without shouting or listening to other dinners. The menu for the Sunday lunch was traditional with a choice of 3 starters, 3 Mains and 3 puddings. It was a set price for 1,2 or 3 courses. The 4 of us went the 3 courses and the starters were piping hot, tasty and my wife said the prawn starter was superb. We all had the Lamb steaks and this was served with fresh vegetables, roasts in duck fat and delicious gravy. The pudding was equally good, we had Jam sponge and custard, honeycomb cheesecake x2 and a brandy snap basket with ice cream. All truly scrumptious. Washed down from drinks from the bar and optional coffee and chocolate, the afternoon was one of the best family days we have had. Mel and Gem were lovely, the meals were lovely, the ambiance was lovely and our afternoon was perfect. So if you want to eat in a calm, relaxed place with not a ding from the kitchen or elbow in your head from a fellow dinner then this is the place to go.
