Renowned for its friendly staff and inviting atmosphere, patrons rave about the exquisite cuisine, particularly standout dishes like the Sunday roast and fresh seafood. While the decor is elegant and the wine selection impressive, some guests have noted that portion sizes may be on the smaller side relative to the higher prices, which could discourage repeat visits. Overall, it’s a lovely spot for a meal, reflecting a commitment to quality and local ingredients, making it highly recommendable for those seeking a memorable dining outing.
A friend recommended the Nether Abbey for a meal and my mum, dad and I went today. Staff were really friendly and helpful. My mum and dad had carrot and onion soup and a lobster and salmon bisque to start that they both really enjoyed and we all had the Sunday roast beef. Wow. I can honestly say it was the BEST Sunday roast I have ever eaten. Absolutely delicious. Thanks to the chef! They have a great wine selection and the bar area looks great too. Thanks for a lovely lunch and I would highly recommend the restaurant for a meal.
My husband and I had a great lunch at Nether Abbey Hotel. We had a beautiful table just beside the open doors so we were able to look out to the garden area in the sunshine. The restaurant has beautiful decor. The staff were welcoming and friendly. My husband had always wanted to try lobster and he was not disappointed with the fresh seafood and lobster available. I had the fish and chips which was HUGE and delicious. I also enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine the wine list was extensive and had a great selection! The only reason I haven’t gave it the full 5 stars was due to waiting quite a long time for our starter nibbles of bread and olives but overall it was a fantastic lunch and would definitely return and recommend!
Went here for a pre-fringe by the sea meal and overall delighted by the attentive friendly service and high quality food. We had the mixed board to start and venison for main which is probably the best venison meal we have had. The mix of flavours were so good. Great to have full restaurant menu in the bar so we could bring the pup with us. Only room for improvement is the bread that came with the platter which, although fresh and homemade, we didn't like the texture.
We came here for a few drinks and to watch sport. Their massive screen was ideal! A good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Staff were welcoming. A great place to watch sports with your mates.
We dined at this restaurant twice while staying in North Berwick, and that speaks for itself. The atmosphere is classy without being overwhelming, and the food was enjoyable both times. We encountered a small issue with a steak one evening, but it was resolved to our liking. I have already suggested this restaurant to friends who are visiting the area.
