After booking a restaurant that falsely claimed to be licensed, we left and stumbled upon this excellent restaurant where we were seated immediately. Despite it being busy in the early evening, the staff were incredibly helpful. We accidentally ordered red wine, but the waiter graciously opened it for us. When we offered to pay for the bottle, they instead swapped it for a bottle of white free of charge. The food was... View all feedback.
What barksd doesn't like about The Gandhi:
We have been before and was pleased, however on the 24th June, we ordered our meal and it took 2.5 hours to get to our mains, it was 22:45 then way to late for us as we had taxi booked. The staff made up a take away for us, We got back and put the meal out which was very watery and lacked flavour, we had to leave it. In truth it was disgusting. The service was rubbish and attitude poor. We wouldn’t go back I I can’t... View all feedback.
My wife and I ate here last night and was blown away with the service and the food. The chef even came to see us to query something that we ordered as my wife ordered the garlic chicken but wanted extra garlic and not too spicy . My wife said it was the nicest curry she ever had. We would definitely recommend.
Gandhi are surviving because the internet is so bad in Skegness and people can’t read the dreadful reviews on Google and Tripadvisor. If you read the reviews beforehand you would be wise to not go. Customer service was really awful. Staff need some proper training in hospitality, service and politeness otherwise this business will fail. Chicken tikka masala with five pieces of chicken was confirmed by management to be the correct number of pieces of chicken as “It is a sauce dish”. Not in any other Indian restaurant it isn’t. An experience we don’t want to repeat!
A party of 5 of us dined here last night. We all had something different and were all really pleased with the food. The service was friendly and efficient too. Prices are reasonable and will return!
To note, this is the first review I’ve written in probably 10 years. I’m not in the slightest a complainer and I just want to say we have used this restaurant for a takeaway on a weekly basis for many years as local residents. What we experienced however dining in the restaurant tonight was absolutely diabolical service and has put us off ever returning. In short, it took over an hour and a half to serve our meals, we had to ask twice for our order to be taken after waiting 25 minutes from our drinks order being taken, the prices were obscene (having used the restaurant for a takeaway on many occasions and ordered more food than we had in house tonight in a takeaway usually comes to £29 for two people) £62.50 we were charged for two when we had a main meal and a naan bread to share effectively portions were also more measly in house than takeaway. Despite all of this the peak of the disaster came at the end of the evening when we simply queried the bill (mainly the £16+ charged for two lime and lemonades and a popadom at the beginning) and the restaurant manager got distinctly aggressive towards my mum and handled himself abysmally. Needless to say they have lost out on about £100 per month worth of local repeat business now and we won’t be returning. Atrocious service.
I will not be returning to this restaurant after my first visit. The staff appeared disinterested and unkempt, and the food took an excessively long time to arrive. We waited over 2 hours for our main course, which was definitely not worth the wait. It seemed like they were more focused on fulfilling takeaway orders. Overall, I will not be dining here again.
