Some have had negative experiences with long wait times, overcooked food, and poor customer service, while others have enjoyed the food quality, friendly service, and affordable prices. The restaurant seems to have a diverse menu with traditional Chinese dishes alongside more Americanized options. Despite some initial hiccups, the owner did make an effort to rectify mistakes for one dissatisfied customer, resulting in an improved dining experience. The restaurant is locally owned and offers late-night options, making it a convenient choice for a quick and flavorful meal.
One word can describe this food. Cheap. Rice kitchen is a tiny little take out Chinese joint.
When I first moved to EL for State in 2012, Rice Kitchen was actually good! It was the perfect place to stumble in late at night for some hot, fresh Chinese
Sadly, I'm in the crowd that's seem this place fall from solid mediocrity to 'how are you guys still open?' The first few trips here my sophomore year were
*First order was bad, but the owner did make right and provide new food* Ordered takeout online around 11:45 pm. The order was manually confirmed and said to be ready in 10 minutes. Not believing that I arrived at 12:15 and still had to wait almost 20more minutes. I'm thinking we'll at least it's fresh... I'm not sure anything was fresh...the chicken for both my General Tsoand my husband's Orange was so crunchy and tough I couldn't finish my food. The taste was good, but there were pieces I couldn'teven chew or cut with a fork and knife. The crab Rangoon was okay and my husband said his fried dumplings were alright but eventhose tasted like they had been sitting around for awhile. My son's scheszuan (spelling) shrimp tasted okay. But the shrimpstexture was...weird and not good Overall. I would never order here again. Actually, I'm so mad that I spent over $60 andstill hungry, that I'm on my way to return over half the food we ordered. We will see how they handle it to see if I change myreview. *Update* The gentleman, I'm assuming owner, wanted nothing to do with helping us at first. He did offer $20 dollarrefund since some of the food was gone, but there was still two whole dishes left so he agreed to remake two of the chickendishes. Those two dishes came back much better and so I will change my review to 4 stars since the owner did remake two of thedishes and they were good.
Read reviews and didn?t know what to expect. Dude at counter was super nice, l got beef loo fried rice and it was good only because I?m starving. But in need of more soy sauce, dumplings bland but nothing soy sauce can?t fix.
